Jonathan Was Wrong, Challenge is NOT Required to Have Fun
" I think the issue is that he probably just isn't very good at the game. Maybe I've missed it but he always dodges any question about how long it takes him to complete the campaign and that's likely because it's a fairly long process. He seems like the type of person that picks up every single item in each map and ports out to stash it. |

" What are you even on about? PoE2 was literally presented as a PoE1 expansion in 2019. Then in 2023, they announced "Ha lol, you thought PoE2 would be an expansion for PoE1, but it's not anymore. Oopsie daisy.". Cool that GGG will port the new animations/models and WASD to PoE1 when PoE2 is finished, but... you know... that stuff was the purpose of PoE2 in the first place. " Again, they said it was a new engine and a new campaign, that they wanted to slow down the game and improve clarity. It is exactly that. Would you rather they delete everything PoE1 and just call it PoE2? What do you want exactly? They announced that the project got more ambitious, they didn't announce "thanks for the money now we will make a game you won't enjoy on purpose". Just because they haven't ported over everything you like in the first iteration doesn't mean it is tantamount to fraud. Representing it like that is just childish, it is like you are throwing a fit and saying you hate your parents because they got you a lime lollipop instead of raspberry. " Again, it's not a new engine, it's actually the old one. They said they will update character rigs, improve animations, modernise graphics and provide a second campaign to select because the old one has... it's issues. [Removed by Support]

A game has to be engaging to have fun.
PoE1 hasn't been engaging to me for 5 years now. The core game peaked during Shaper/Elder and the leagues peaked at Heist in terms of quality. Unless you just haven't been paying attention they've been doing to same with to PoE1 over the years they're doing with PoE2. PoE and Warframe made a lot of the same mistakes. PoE tries to keep the bar higher but both games put way too much weight on gear stats which will inevitably turn gameplay into white noise. They talk about players just like to make glass cannon blow up the screen builds but much of that is because they've made defenses unreliable and left damage entirely unchecked. It's so badly designed they made bosses with 70% less damage taken. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

The game is overall tedious and not challenging. I made a reddit post that articulates some of my points.

" I think PoE1 peaked around this time too. First "Heist" with all the new build diversity (alt gem versions), then "Ritual" - or more importantly in that league "Echoes of the Atlas" with the new endgame additions, and then "Ultimatum" with good balance changes... before they started killing the game slowly but surely. Remember what came after that peak? "Expedition", where GGG deleted "Slam builds" and "Fire Burst" with completely weird changes to the game. "Archnemesis", where they introduced completely horrible monster mods, instead of actually balancing the stuff we had. "Kalandra", where they shadow nerfed loot drops and made even more weird nerfs. Guess everyone are afraid to talk about the real problem - the development team is led by the wrong leads and it shows.

" I don't think that Mark is the wrong guy. His work so far is really good. Besides a few bosses that need rethinking, most are awesome, and he is the one who is mostly responsible for that. Furthermore, you can see in interviews that he thinks about problems presented to him and tries to find a way to solve these issues. And he actually plays the game, so when we voice an issue, even if he personally did not encounter it - he investigates and goes to work. But aside from Mark... idk man, doesn't look so great tbh.
