Mental gymnastic 10/10.
It is exactly what it is, regarless of new or old player. The focus is to get people back or for the first time in new league, because this is how they maximize the profits. It is by design.

Noone is expected to play for the full duration of a league, but the new stuff is there to build hype and excitment enducing purchase every time as much as possible. Again, that's EXACTLY what it is. That's not a mindset, that's the business model.

You bring the campaign skip that I never mentioned ever, and that is irrelevant with the model again.
People asking for skip is just the normal friction of a live service game, where people always ask as much as possible, while devs try to give up as little as possible. This is the fate of a Live service game. Did I mention PoE is a live service game ? Repetitiveness is a central part of the equation.

Again, with all respect, the faster ppl put that down their mind, the better for everyone.

Now, before you answer again "not exactly", here is some bibliography for you :

Designing Path of Exile to Be Played Forever

It is highly recommended that you play in the new economy due to the extensive number of balance changes.

we do recommend starting over and getting the full new experience in the Dawn of the Hunt leagues

Future leagues will usually add exclusive content.

on release weekend we expect to launch the new mystery box and cool microtransactions, some of which are themed around the Huntress!

"Designing path of exile to be played forever..."

Really? You took this literally?

At this point idk which is worse, GGG for saying that or you for believing it.

That's like watching a comercial where the restaurant says they have the best pizza of the country and then you believe and get disappointed when you find out it is just a way to market the product.

That's mental gymnastics. So good that you lied to yourself in order to believe that.

As I said, unrealistic and sometimes pathological expectations. This perfectly proves my point.

You're answering without having read/watched what I gave you. And it shows.
That's called ignorance, uneducated, whichever you prefer.
I'm not arguing with you if the design is good or not, I'm explaining you how it is. I cannot do more for you, the work is in your hands to educate yourself now.

I tried.

Your posts are right on target. This new VERY VOCAL MINORITY is going to result in this game being recorded as the biggest failure in the ARPG space and for a company that built the best ARPG ever (POE 1) it is quite the turnaround. The problem is all of these newcomers want an isomorphic Elden Ring in ARPG form and when the game goes down because there are not enough of them to support the company they will move on and wreck the next title. The only hope we can have is someone with power at GGG reads this thread and gets it.

I think you are way too much doom and gloom, but I'm afraid the fear is kinda legitimate.
I dunno where we are heading to, but I'm definitely concerned. Time will tell...
If you want meaningful combat then play no rest for the wicked. Its great and you do get powerful as you play but you also arent fighting large waves of enemies.

PoE is a love letter to Diablo which was a love letter to Nethack forked from hack and finally based off Rogue. The genre is the product is about getting powerful and outwitting to survive is the name of the game to the point of game breaking and loot.

PoE2 is is built off of PoE1 which isnt based off of the Souls model. GGG is trying to crowbar a different concept into it. This game shouldnt of been called PoE2.

Also Last Epoch sits at 100-135k players peak

POE2 sits at 85-100k

Wrong comparison.

POE2 - 7 days number: 190k (only steam, standalone = ?, consoles = ?)
LE - 5 days number: 107k (steam and it has no standalone, no consoles)

PS: And most popular POE1 league ever:

7 days number: 150k (steam only, standalone = ?, no consoles)

The very premise of the post is that if you make combat "meaningful" outside of bosses its no longer an ARPG and is, as some have proposed, an isometric elden ring with a map system.
Elden Ring is ARPG.

If you think there is any similarity between Elden ring and POE2 then you are part of the problem.
I never played PoE1, but this is exactly what I’ve been trying to put into words over the last few days. Great post—I really hope the devs see it.

I hope when they sit down to make the next PoE1 league, they take a step back and seriously ask themselves: what kind of game do we want PoE2 to be?

It is quite easy to see what kind of gameplay they want. They want PoE1 but slower enough to allow for more than one skill spam to be used effectively.

It means that for the first levels you char will feel slow so that in the endgame he is faster but not "6 aps fast" like in PoE 1.

There definitely is a middle ground between Elden Ring and PoE1 and they are trying to achieve it.

At least that's what I understand, whether or not they will manage to get it *right*, I don't know.

And personally, I prefer that over the mindless 1 skill spam meta where every build plays the same regardless of class or ascendancy.
