Yes, this was their intent, however, they nerfed HP values while neglecting to buff life regen or life leech, which means many builds that used Blood Magic gems are finding it difficult to leech/regen enough HP to sustain their abilities. So now you are forced into getting even more life nodes to make up for the life that you lost because of the nerf.

You're conflating life regen with life leech and I think that's a misperception. Yes, regen is based off max life, and that has been nerfed by the patch. But leech is based off damage, and that has been buffed (or remains unnerfed) in all but a few cases. And since mana costs have not gone up, leech should continue to provide at least as much life recovery for BM users as before.


Except life/mana leech is also based off your max life/mana as well as damage....

Maybe the devs realized being able to run high mana cost skills, with no downside and little node investment wasn't a good thing for the game.

Maybe they should stop nerfing the hell out of mana then? Part of the reason people stacked hp & went BM was because the mana equivalent is almost nonviable.
Mana potions were buffed in the patch, actually. But I guess nobody notices because everyone is way too lazy to use mana potions?

Mana potions are fine early game as there are only a few types of flasks at hand or that are required but by late game I really don't want to to be reliant on spamming mana pots just to sustain dps.
Mana can actually be quite viable. You just have to spec for it. People just want to run high attack speed, high mana skills, and not have ANY downside whatsoever. This simply should not be the case.

*Note- I do have issues with the way mana is currently in the game. However, this needed to happen. People are complaining that they can't use their 160 mana skill (per use) x AS x SPAM SPAM SPAM anymore. Good. You shouldn't be able to.

Why?

Why should a level 80+ chara still be dependant on spamming flasks?

If you are so adamant that people shouldn't be able to spam skills why not just have a cooldown on them all?

By late game mana pool & regen should be taken care of, you should have enough ammo for your guns so to speak. As it is ti seems we are having to take many mana passives, stack mana & regen on gear, use a mana leech gem in our set up & then we still have to use pots in order to spam a skill designed to be spammed. Don't tell me spells or arrow skills aren't meant to be spammed.

Always being on the edge of runnning out of mana sucks but apparently I shouldn't be able to spam my skills anyway right?
Well... don't know what GGG was thinking but their melee fix, was perhaps the worst ever seen.

They pretty much made melee worse, melee wasn't lacking in damage, they were lacking in SURVIVABILITY.

Did they even test melee classes/builds?




They practically made hp nodes and Kaom's even more important now.... teh hell?!

I mean, you shouldn't be able to so without investing in being able to. If you lvl that far, and dont make an effort to be able to spam really really expensive skills, why should you be able to?

Having like 3-4 regen nodes isn't considered an investment either.

EDIT: If you don't invest in mana/mana regen, or say something like vitality + regen nodes, than spamming *expensive* shouldn't be allowed. Keyword is expensive.

I rerolled for one of those shitty pre patch build, pure melee physical, and well if i'm didn't went very far in one day, they sure are super powerful now, i'll see when the build is hitting maps.
