Horrible lag in PoE only... offline mode

While I've enjoyed playing this game so far, if it weren't for the lag I'd play this game almost non-stop, lag made me quit last time, and it's even worse now and made me quit again.

I know its still a beta but a year ago it was bad and now it's even worse. 15 year old RTS and FPS games have better netcode. :(

It is definitely not my PC, I have no issues playing other games, SC2, Counter Strike, L4D2, DOTA2, D3, Torchlight 2... you name it. These games require precise micro and lag is unacceptable and these games are all a joy to play with minimal lag. There isn't a single game that has horrible lag except PoE so it is certainly the game that is at fault.

I would have thought that fixing the netcode would be the most important part of a multiplayer game? Why is this not a priority after 3 years?

Anyway, hopefully there is an offline mode or the issue is drastically fixed before release... it will be sad to see this game BOMB HARD because of poor network code. It really destroys the experience when you die for no fault of your own.
Offline mode would be great, like in Dark Souls, online is generally more fun, but you can also enjoy the experience offline. I really hate this always online nonsense most games try to do now. Sure online will often be more fun but give the PLAYER the choice, playing an online game with terrible netcode is not fun at all. I will probably check back when it is finally released as the netcode would HAVE to be fixed by then... certainly can't be released with crappy lag otherwise that would be a MASSIVE fail!

Fix netcode and enable offline mode FTW :D

I too hope for an offline mode, but it's not in their plans.

Having been stung by Sacred2 and Hellgate London... these design choices based on business model have a history of stinging the companies that make them. Sacred2 sold it's regional distribution rights, and ended up with a totally fragmented player base. They whole US couldn't even buy the expansion. Hellgate London's fail is legendary, even though it was a really great game. I really hope that GGG doesn't bite it over this issue.

You should really read up on desync and why it's effects are more pronounced here than in your other games.

What lag? I play on a shitty 3 Mb DSL connection and I don't lag. I rubber band occasionally, but not more often than Diablo 3 for example.
How is this thread or offline mode stupid?

The lag in this game is unbearable, it is definitely the game, I have a 100Mb connection, I play Heroes of Newerth, Dota2, Counter Strike, SC2, L4D2, Diablo3, Torchlight2... all of these games have super smooth gameplay and netcode... if those games lagged like PoE did i would not be able to play them at all!

I just looked at desyncing and it seems to be a massive problem with the game forever... why is this not fixed yet, there is no excuse when 100s of other games do not have this issue.

I really don't care WHY it happens, knowing why it happens doesn't help me fix it. It is something the developers need to fix obviously. What a shame it will be to design such a great game... and it is a GREAT game... then ruin the gameplay experience with absolutely terrible netcode and no offline mode to escape it.

I also see no reason why the game doesn't have an offline mode, if you are making an online only game you better have bullet proof netcode, and the netcode in PoE is LITERALLY the worst I've ever seen, hell playing Starcraft 1 15 years ago via direct phone calls had less lag than this!

At the very least an offline mode would keep me interested until they finally fix the online component!

Too much of the game is handled server side for an offline mode.

Personally I never get desync on the regular leagues. Only in Descent races recently have I felt it.

EDIT: Hey mods, why don't you just ban Flamewarrior instead of chasing him around and editing his posts? He registered yesterday and is obviously a troll account. Get it together.

be prepared for many 'there is no lag/desync because i dont have it' comments... just as syphallis doesn't exist because a particular person doesn't have it... i've a 30meg fibre and a good spec machine and i desync all the time, and that's with a ping that doesn't go much over 50-60ms (according to the built-in connection monitor).
Despite knowing GGG's stance on this issue, I shall persevere!

+1 for offline mode, forever until I finally gain it!!!

Wrong. GGG in their great wisdom has actually built the gesync into the game on PURPOSE. It is not going away. The so called fix they thru at the game made it all the more pronounced. Now a charging foe can throw the game completely out of sync but supposedly less deaths occur. So for the most part this is what you are experiencing more than lag.

The lag is less than it once was but the servers still overload during some races particularly at the start of one. That won't change either. Evidently they aren't making enough money to pay for sufficient server capacity.

So what you got is what you get.

Not saying you are wrong cause I just don't know about these things, but damn that is just depressing ass shit for a fan to hear!
