Why I won't be returning to PoE

This is plainly an ill conceived statement. He clearly stated that he enjoyed the game. He said that he had very high level characters. That cannot be done unless he played many many hours. I don't think he played many hours of a game that he didn't enjoy! A game that he didn't get into, a game that wasn't for him.

It seems clear to me that he is trying to improve the game by explaining the reason that he no longer plays in the hope that the developers will "fix" THE problem that he has with the game. I can sympathize with this position because I share the same opinion. PoE is a great game. I've brought up two characters to the seventy level. I'm not interested in hardcore. I want to play the game, relax and have fun. Right now dying costs me less than an hour of play time but it is still very frustrating and makes the game frustrating rather than fun. In my opinion it reduces the fun because of the frustration and discourages me from experimenting with different things and ways of playing.

I suggest that the developers accept the statements in the way they were intended. That is a heartfelt attempt to improve the game for more casual gamers. I think the current death penalty costs the game far more players than it draws in. There is little doubt in my mind that the last time I play this game it is likely going to be because of this same issue unless the problem is fixed.





really hes just beating a dead horse that has been explained over and over and over and over and over and over again. the game isnt finished. more content is on the way which will make leveling a lot less of a pain in the ass. This has all been explained to people like him over and over and over and over and over and over again. but hes too impatient to wait for the content to get here and quits the game. Hes right if he cant wait then hes better off playing something else than torturing himself here. ITs not a big deal but there nothing anyone can to for someone unwilling to listen and accept the reality that is the current state of PoE.

Overall there are multiple levels of time wasting in this game so everyone has their breaking point. I just don't know why level progress is so important after those high levels, is there some skill you really need to reach at that level?

But to think they would remove the xp penalty, you'd have to come up with an alternative and so far, I've never read a good one. It is very traditional in this type of game.

How about when you die, you lose a stash tab?
How about when you die, you are cursed at half ES or Life for 10 million xp?

I think xp is actually lot less mean than it could be. It is just time as you say.
And maybe you have better things to do.

Dying at 85 is harsh and takes away several hours of your time because we don't have suitable areas yet for XP outside of high level maps. Once the game goes full release I hope to see some 70-72 areas in just Act3x. Deaths at 85+ in games like Diablo2 even after getting your body back resulted in atleast an hour or so of Baal running again in LOD. But id more closely relate POE's state to classic Diablo2 Chaos runs at the moment.

I share your opinion on the whole.I keep all the same a little hope that the game improves. Otherwise, I'd like you, leave to other lands.
I already test other games where my hopes would be disappointed.
But look a little. We will then see if the big defects of the game are of a desire or just a lack of time.

75 is my level cap for this game. I am lucky that I like alts. Hope you find something you enjoy.

I've played a bunch of online multi-player games of various types. How many of them had desync that was the rule rather than the exception? One - PoE.

Desync is caused by balancing client-side game mechanics/logic vs trying to do everything on the servers (see post by Chris regarding this). Most games strike a nice balance that prevents any serious altering of the game mechanics while avoiding 95% of the desync PoE has. GGG has erred on the side of the server more and thus desync is the result. It is entirely fixable - many games have proven that. The question is whether GGG will loosen up and find the right balance or just keep trying to have their cake and eat it too.

All I can say is, in my opinion, EVERYONE experiencing desync will be more detrimental to PoE in the long-run than any potential abuse that could possibly be caused by allowing the client enough freedom to reduce desyncs to a reasonably rarely-existing level.
