Again.. my point, this @sshat is posting that he quit 2 months ago. Yet here he is posting topics on a forum of a game he doesnt play. Again
1. He is still playing
2. Just trying to get attention with QQ

lulz rage quit topics :)

Awhile ago blizzard did a study of people who made quit topics then came back.

It was something crazy like 80% of every single person who posted "I quit" came back within 3 months.

I really wish I could find the exact study, I know in most games people cry how there are going to quit, but they never do.

I think of it every time I see stupid topics that try and get attention.

I made a quit thread when I left D3 in december 2012. I wanted to sell everything ASAP because I know items dont keep their value for long so I checked out with a 200$ and was happy. I stated at the end of my quit thread "See you guys when the game will get as interesting as D2 was".

I still don't play it. But I may reconsider it once I gave loot/para 2.0 a go.

I hold my words and I'm no hypocrite like that study.

I feel you.. D3 is the one true game that I have actually left for real :<
Im thinking of maybe.. just maybe giving it one more shot after 2.0 and the AC gets shut down.

Idk if i want to give that crapshoot of a game the chance to hurt me anymore

Fun to you is dieing with no penalty or a penalty so lenient that its still pretty meaningless?

Strange.

xp penalty is really fine as it is.

wall of text

thats what ive been saying for months and months now, but they dont and wont listen so the game is gonna be dead soon.

you are not the only one leaving. everyday more and more people leave and the so called release will even kill this game faster then they think. after release a lot of fresh players will join poe and soon realize this game has fundamental flaws, and then quit.

just like you said, game is fun until you hit level 85+ .. then its becoming punishing and less to no rewarding ... worst game design ever in end game plus dsync = game will not live another year ...

The game isn't hard for 85+!!!! Wtf is so hard to understand????

Pursuing a build TO end-game is one thing. When you start talking about getting into the 90's, you're going well BEYOND that. The game is currently simply not designed, nor intended for most people to get much past the early to mid 80's. As new content is added, this will probably change but as things are now, "end-game" for all but the most absolute hard-core players IS somewhere around the mid-80's. This is already well beyond the level of the highest maps or items in the game and there's no real NEED to go beyond that currently.

Pretty much this. Along with the fact that if you want a secure way up into the 90's, that's available to you through the amazing passive tree and gear choices. Not to mention that the last tier of maps shouldn't be facerolled by anyone but the absolute top players IMO.

You choose your own path, if you want to take risks why would you want to remove the penalty? Does that not remove the whole point of taking a risk? If you don't like taking risks then don't.

Also, getting into the late 80s early 90s isn't really going to do much for you game-play wize unless you're doing a build that specifically needs that many passive points, which in itself isn't a great idea if you don't have the time to play 8h a day. So I definitely think that the current system where you can't loose levels is fine. The XP penalty is needed to keep things interesting for SC players, as already mentioned.

I think the HC ladder is sufficient proof that it's absolutely possible to reach very high levels without dying on a regular basis if that's what you're going for.

Cheers!

Edit: Need I mention that the end-game isn't even complete yet? :3

I usually find that when I quit a game I just stop playing it, I find it hard to see any reason for leaving a "I quit" or just a general feedback thread unless you're actually interested in the game improving- which is probably why that study shows so many people returning(if such a study actually exists lol). Same goes for you, it seems, as you claim to still be interested in the title if it improves, granted you left more than 3 months ago, but you get my point :p I actually stop playing d3 for about a year, got reminded of it's existence via the expansion announcement and tried it out again-

I find that it's actually not that bad in small doses. I'm looking forward to future announcements on the expansion such as what they're doing for the end-game farm other than new areas and tweaked loot. Might get interesting for someone like me who wants rewards for playing rather than constant trading :3

Oh, wait! It's the only shopping game to ever have the nerve to call itself harcore.

Howdy folks, veteran player here. I quit playing PoE ~2 months ago. I have multiple L80 characters, and had been playing quite some time.

However I got sick of losing hours and hours of gametime due to a single death, often caused by the lag/latency issues. I did the math and realized if I got into the 90's, I'd lose days of gameplay time (I can only play evenings).

Even with the recent adjustment, the penalty is far too harsh for anyone who is L85+. Why would I want to play a game where a single death (my fault or not) when I'm not playing hardcore removes hours or days of progressive gameplay? Is this EVE Online?

I have no incentive to return to PoE because of this, no matter the new content that is added. While I understand this game focuses on multiple characters and builds (which I have done), not having the freedom to pursue a build I prefer to "end game" without a massive burden of guaranteed loss just isn't any fun; and that's why I play games - to have fun.

While Chris and his team have done a fantastic job of creating a solid product (which is fun until you hit the higher levels, then it's just stressful), their special catering to the hardcore players (and even defining softcore play by hardcore players, which is ridiculous) is unfortunate and will ultimately result in the loss of a percentage of gamers for a sustained period.

Any game designed where you can (and often do) end up worse off than when you started out due to general gameplay mistakes has a fundamental flaw. PoE has this flaw, and it needs to be addressed. Until then, I won't be playing - and I know many others who feel the same way (many of my friends quit due to the penalty, and like me - won't come back because of it).

Chris & team - you guys need to wake up on this issue. Your hardcore gamers are < 15% of your player base. It's foolish to listen to them for defining softcore gameplay rules and penalties.

Many players including myself have offered solid viable alternatives to the current penalty system that would work very well.

If you want PoE to be as successful as it could and retain a high percentage of your softcore base, please address this issue.

Read my thread made just before this one, it gives similar reasons to why i left.
