Why I won't be returning to PoE
Ill say it again, then, this game would be to easy without any exp loss. Id have 13-14 more skill points and be virtually invulnerable, and it would be boring.
They could, theoretically do what you want.. but thatd split the player base even further and honestly, why should they? No. They could also do it without splitting the player base. We could have discussions about how to do that if you want. Also, its not a theory. They've proven that they can create different leagues with different rulesets. Onslaught and Anarchy for example. I don't think it would split the population that much. Most of the population would be on one or the other, and probably not both, while some small percentage of players stuck around on the other to say "Naw, we like it here". Like a misbehaving child in a grocery store. Maybe instead of saying "No, I do not like that idea. " Maybe say "No, I do not like that idea, I would much rather see those resources go toward doing X" where X is the alternative that you are suggesting. Thanks to whoever for the tip about Disgaea!
The problem with the XP loss, is the XP system. The XP system in this game is so damn generic, you can tell there was no thought put into. They could of easily rolled the XP loss into a survival bonus that gave a buff for staying alive, and a penalty for dying. This would of kept XP values desirable for not dying, but no immediate subtraction for death. They could of also removed numeric based character levels, this would of removed dying or living from XP values all together. Bottom line, they could of done it many different ways, they just stuck with 1+1=2 and gave it no more thought. |

I am actually pretty opposed to the modern idea of 'friendship' Aka facebook friending hundreds of people are pretending they are your friends. More seriously, I would rather they spent time making a SFL so I didnt have to trade /shrug. IGN
