" Since there is no timer to make loot disappear (beside the instance reset when left empty), there would be NO risk at all to not have the charms (or whatever gives you bonusses from your inventory) while you're fighting. You can easily clean everything, then make root to grab the loot... Beside that, I think there are already enough kinds of bonus available through the different game mechanics (item mods, passives, supports, auras...). Adding another - salable - source would need a complete rebalance of the game, considering the new possibilities. Such bonusses can not be simply set on top of the existing game. invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

Charms are an offensively bad idea. They add absolutely nothing to the game, clutter inventory for very little reward, and encourage a very awkward 'mini-game' of balancing how annoying going to back to town is with how much inventory space you keep. It was horrible. If they weren't in D2, I bet no one would be asking for them here. It also is absolutely not a risk/reward mechanic. You don't fail inventory space. You do not get a bonus for managing it better. I have no idea where people get that.
Trap chests, meh. They didn't add much, but that's because chests in D2 barely ever dropped anything worth a damn anyway. Could be alright in PoE if they like spawned monsters or something. Shrines are cool, especially in conjunction with dynamic events/quests. Both should be added. Treasure goblins lifted wholesale would be inappropriate for this game. Random monsters similar to it would be fun. Just tie it into a solid dynamic event system. Ancient and unwise, SSF only since 2012

So you are asking them to copy every dynamic that other games used instead of thinking up something original?
I am hoping for something original. Fight censorship

rather than a treasure goblin id like to see a bandit that takes a random currency item from you or a piece of your gear and you have to chase him down to get it

I would love to see shrines in Path of Exile. Charms, not so much. Hopefully we will see shrines added sometime soon, as I think there is already some support for shrines coded into the game.

The idea of charms that sit in flask spots and act like rings or other bits of gear is something I find intriguing as it's a decent trade off between having flasks and gaining some other benefit. However life regen builds and Chaos Inoculation builds are already able to be fairly flask independent as things stand so it would have to be carefully balanced.
On the other hand I agree that random events are really needed. I don't mean something simple like a random unique, but rather something larger like an entire new side quest. When I think of random events my mind goes back to the very first diablo. The butcher had his own room, and I'd like to see an evolution of that idea in PoE. Give me an entire random side area like the Tidal Island or the Fetid Pool. Random side quests leading off away from areas you are overly familiar with are surprising the first time you encounter them, and they can change as the difficulty level of the area increases so that an area remains fresh even if you've gone through it with that same character three times previously. I'd be extremely impressed if I went into cruel or ruthless and all of a sudden there were extra little areas showing up on my way point map that had never been there before. It would be exciting finding out what those side areas were, and what sort of enemies/quest rewards might await inside the "new" and "fresh" areas I'd seldom/never seen before. It would be almost as impressive if I went to enter the "fetid pool" and found the quest had been replaced by one of ten or so other quest areas with the same reward and general spot in the game, but a totally different feel/storyline.
