Standard gets legacy items, which is plenty of love if one feels that legacy items are a good thing. :)

Socket color hasn't been my problem so far, 6L was and is (and even 6S-ing has given me trouble).

No problem on socket colours if you are trying to roll melee phys dmg colours on vaal regalia Kappa

It's going well thanks! I'm very excited, as I'm sure you can imagine, it's been a long and bumpy road, and it feels great to be among the few who have ever owned such a rod of beauty and elegance :)

I hope to give you an update on exotic fish in the coming days. SotS ownership is still a relatively new thing for me, and I'm taking it one step at a time :)

I'm guessing the opposite of the OP who I think has fallen to wishful thining. Corruption gives the white socket (the socket is corrupted).

What does corruption mean/do? Perhaps everytime you use the skill in the white socket (and possibly linked to it) it reflects. Perhaps it subtracts 1 level from the gem. Perhaps the gem can not gain xp.
Like with their uniques, they prefer to have balance by having drawbacks.

I do not think it's obtainable with a chromatic nor do I think you will be able to fill an item with white sockets.
