A couple of examples of how the economy is already getting screwed for the majority of players
Hey OP, why do you feel the need for a throwaway account to post this thread? Is this just a ninja advertisement for that trading place?

Hehe, this thread....
You know, RMT is inevitable. Blizzard knew this and made the RMAH to cash in on this fact. I have to commend them on making a perfectly logical business move. Now, PoE is going to be pretty much like D2 when it comes to the RMT; there is simply nothing in place to stop or slow it. As a result, people -will- farm, multibox, and exploit the game to get rich off it (either ingame or irl). It has been, is, and will always be the case for any game with an economy. |

"So your plan is to demolish the Single Player and Playing with Friends aspect of the game to stop randoms having fun doing there own thing? Yes lets make the loot system as bland as D3 because that is clearly awesome. Computer specifications:

Seems more likely to me that there's duping or exploiting going on. That's usually the only time you see people willing to throw so much currency around.

" Except that now Blizzard takes a cut from RMAH, there is something to motivate them to make the game all about equipment trading, and that's the problem with Diablo 3. |

If people want to buy and sell items on this game for real cash, who gives a shit? Play the game and quit worrying about what others do.

it'll be easier to get items when more are discovered..

" I think this is such an unfortunate lose-lose scenario sadly. Blizzard opted to implement the RMAH, which unfortunately only encourages P2W, but at least gives the developer a slice of the action which would hopefully go back into the development budget. Alternately, GGG can take a stand against, however it's near impossible to police, many players will indulge in it despite how much it violates the refreshing no-P2W environment, and GGG then also doesn't benefit from the revenue. In the end, I lean on the side of just trying to police it where possible, but with the unhappy expectation that such policing will be almost entirely ineffective. |

" And how will POE be any different? We'll all be cookie cutting on builds here soon enough, so it's all gonna come down to gear in the end. Even POE's 'about page' states: "Path of Exile is completely designed around items." And I'll tell you what, great items will likely be just as hard to get here as they were in D3. You'll have to barter for a lot of the stuff you really want, which is the same as using the gold auction house in d3 except a lot more tedious and cumbersum. D3 simply has a very poorly designed end-game with a huge lack/mismanagement of itemization and not enough things to do. THAT is D3's problem. | |
" You're missing the point in PoE. First… Yes PoE is designed around "items". Weapons are items. Armours are items. Active Skills are items. Currencies are items. Maps(zones) are items. Leagues (Hardcore/Default) are items. All of these “items” can be modified to adjust the game and keep it evolving. Second… Taking the above into consideration, any cookie cutter builds will be temporary. GGG will constantly release new skills (both active and support) as well as occasionally change the passive tree. New uniques will be added all the time too that can be build defining. Meaning the “cookie cutter of the month” will change. Path of Exile’s game offers multiple objectives for players to strive for: - Max Level Cap - Ladder Rankings - Arena PvP - Maps - Race Events - PvP Events - Custom Leagues Not the simple goal of finding/buying gear to improve you armoury stats. D3 was a good single campaign based game. With the exception of the RMAH it wasn’t built for online communities and for adaptation. PoE was built for online communities and to be adaptable.
