RNG vs hard work system
Right now our economy is based on RNG, with 1 kill of a zombie from your lvl 1 you can get richer than 90% of the population (if you get a mirror drop for example).
This has allways being the core philosophy of ARPG. But ive played other games that are quite fun and their system is. - Kill every day for atleast 7-30 days the equivalent to 5 x78 maps. - defeat uber atziri and you are rewarded with a shavrone/kaom Worth like item. (the item is soulbound, this kills all attempts to RMT even if people don´t like it) Stuff like this made people work hard for their gear instead of stacking IIR/IIQ and farm for hours (ive farmed over 1000+ maps solo with a 500/100 mf character in the last year) i got over 4 rainbowstride 5 BoR 3 marohi 3 lioneye 2 dream fragment... and so on. but it took me a 0% mf character doing a 70 map to get my first shavronne drop at 2000+- hours of game play. I undertand everyone will bash this idea, its nature that people refuse to change. But still IMO GGG tries to cover the flaws of their loot system by having to do ladder reset, Knowingly that RNG system isn´t rewarding and by reseting ladder they make people feel happy about their garbage drop not because it is good but because at the moment there is nothing better (everyone has nothing when new league starts) All this just to cover up that the endgame is not actually playing to improve your gear. Is all about iether RMT or buy item for low price and sell them for high. There is absolutely no need/reward from playing the game. (of course we still do it because it is fun but imagine if it wasn´t just fun but mandatory in order to improve?) IGN: RFFP

You guys just don't get it. Let me explain why RNG games are so successful.
When someone pulls a slot machine in Vegas and hits a jackpot, the brain releases an orgasm of chemicals that give the person a 'high'. That why Vegas is king and why there are so many gambling addicts everywhere you look. Getting a unique to drop does the same thing. That's why you get the special sound and the laser beam from the heavens when one drops. It's to reinforce the addiction players are forming. Addiction will always keep players playing WAY the fuck more than any 'hard work reward' system. Your suggestion will never fly because these devs already have the player base hooked on RNG crack. No need to change perfection. |

Economy is not based on RNG. If you get a mirror, you still have to trade for it, and getting good gear with it requires you to participate. It is not magic sir.
You can still do the hardword system for yourself. Get alterations -> get chaos -> get exalts -> get Shavs Soulbounding will never happen, as per GGGs statement. I need more purple titles

I am fond of a "hard work" system. I played the game over a year wasting over 6,000 fuses for zero 6L - even on a shitty mediocre item - for example. And I'm not addicted to gambling therefore I don't play POE now. Counter to what some people are saying in this thread there are gamers who exist who would be very fond of any other system on the face of the planet in comparison to what crafting/drop systems POE currently has.

I do wish hard work paid off more in this game, as opposed to the harsh RNG model. Patience and persistence will pay off, but I've seem players quit before they were able to get any decent gear. I disagree with the idea of handing out gear, keep it RNG, but I also don't like the mirror economy and how depressing crafting is. I think my issue is more with crafting and these bs mirror shops than the drops.

When you know maths you realize many games have the odds against the player, not including poker and 21. Most of old hardcore gamers here love maths and know that casinos are a rip off, same with lottery tickets (in other words hardcore gamers are not complete retards) if you have the option to spend 100$ with a chance of 50% chance of earning 150$ our brain says "fuk this its a bad deal". If GGG is against soulbound then its ok and they should figure out a way to beat RMT because right now the war is lost, anyone who wants to get currency on any ladder (even 2 week races) are able to google it without GGG even being able to counter act. I respect GGG since there was a problem with people getting hacked, and within a month they came up with the perfect solution, that in my 10 years+ of mmo playing ive never seen. They just asked to e-mail verify your account everytime you tried to log from a different Computer.
