Soft reset of top tier items: PoE is losing one of its key unique features!

So many people threatened "i'll never post again" yet they're all cropping back up lol

I love these new stats, I think Bavirius broke it down pretty well with the Bentley analogy. If you spent everything you owned on a single mirrored item I feel bad for you. Nothing is set in stone and there will always be something better that comes out. For those of you who are upset.. lesson learned I guess

For me it was the transition from WoW classic to the first expansion. Seing my Naxramas items being replaced by quest rewards just killed the game for me.


Before that it was your T1 class set that was replaced by your T2. It was the only way to drive the game forward, or where you gonna sit around with your MC/BWL gear forever? That was the best items in the game at release.
I think the main issue with this is how insanely difficult and expensive it is to find or craft T1 level mods on your gear.

Yes, this was a promise på Chris (GGG) a long time ago: Items and gear will NOT loose their value/impact.

A very stupid promise in my eyes, as it severely limits the potential of future expansions, content and gear. If I crafted a 6xT1 axe the first month I played, I knew that i will NEVER find/craft a better weapon, even if the game gets 1000 acts and is updated for 500 years.

No, that promise had to go.

Can anyone actually link any of these quotes?

Since the start of the game and with the additions of new legendaries this has already been happening. Where are your old crafted gloves that was mirrorworthy? In most cases they became worthless after acuities were added for example.

We're talking about rares, normal tiers on normal, rare gear. Acuity is far from BiS for non-crit builds, as they are pretty build dependent. But OK, I'll try to find some quotes for you. Just need to get my shovel and start digging.

There's a bit of a difference between an ARPG vs an MMO - that being said anyone who wants complete stagnation and only improvements to gear being specific to "looks" should check out Guildwars 2 - my understanding is that there will never be any significant upgrades to gear ever besides just pure looks.


I think the main reason people in POE would have room to complain is specifically that Chris repeatedly stated that GGG wasn't intending to add tier gear because that really messes up what people currently have.


Name one other ARPG with such an insane level of gear / crafting / trading grind. Oh right, there are none.

The best thing about ARPGs used to be finding the shiny loot yourself, not having to spend all day long spamming the trade channels.

Dont you think acuity overruled a ton of crafted gloves as BiS by a large margin?
Or when legacy Shavs/Kaoms was added to the game, it overruled a bunch of crafted chests? CoE for a bunch of helmets. Windripper for almost all bow users etc.

This has been an ongoing process even without the addition of new craftable mods. Without it, the game would stagnate and die.

But it would be nice if you could find that quote, since alot of us never seem to have heard it.

That's what the best unique items is all about - by design: Give an edge to A CERTAIN TYPE OF BUILDS, or make CERTAIN TYPES of builds possible. There's not ONE single unique item in PoE that is considered BiS in many different builds. A top rare will be better than a unique in 9/10 scenarios. By design.
