The RNG is a little crazy, right before OB I was going all out on my maps and doing upwards of 9 chisled and rare maps with over 75% IIQ (tried rolling area size and monster pack size on all of them) with getting 0 maps in return!!!
It was the end of CB so I was going crazy but these were on low level maps, 60-62, and using tons of GCP worth of currency couldnt even maintain 60-63 maps for over a week solo. R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.

Well you are right we all are wrong. Clearly the game needs to be adjusted till you are satisfied. I mean they should just let the eternal machine allow you to play all maps and you roll map mods by dropping orbs in the machine.
This is what will happen if they raise the map drops till EVERYONE has easy access to them like you suggest. IGN:SorXeress

Hence the need for alternative randomly generated end game content. Maps are, by their design, not viable as the one and only form of end game, and to continue making them easier to access would only drive us further away from the entire purpose of itemizing our access to end game. The proposition I made is to increase the drop rate, only outside of maps, only when it comes to entry-level (66) maps. Or to create a recipe that lets you buy white 66 maps by turning in multiple gems (the game does need a gem sink pretty bad, for all of you one-track-minded morons obsessed with scarcity and keeping up the value of stuff). I'm pretty sure that proposition isn't going to turn your world upside down. However, it's actually going to be a lot more fun than farming static areas in a 10 to 1 ratio, even if it's just in the entry level maps. Now I'm usually part of the "more hardcore than you" crowd in most games I participate in, but this is just completely silly. If you actually want shit to be 10-to-1 boring faceroll areas and access to randomized endgame being scarce, you're just preoccupied mostly with your own little personal glory and not at all with the general quality of the game. An artificial RNG-based, not skill or gear based, barrier of entry into endgame is just bad for the longevity and long-term interest in the game. I'm sure the ~5-10% of "I can grind more than you" retards around here think it will spell doom for them (not exactly sure HOW, they still haven't made any compelling argument about why it's bad), but the current drop rates are going to get a large part of the crowd bored pretty fast. " I'm all for maps being super rare if there was something else do do than farming static content a thousand times over for drops and xp. Right now though, there isn't. Just lost another map to a disconnect. Back to zero.
On my way to level 75 and still couldnt get a foothold into the map system. Terrible map drop rate + random disconnects that completely destroy the map, great combination to keep a player interested in farming act 3. |

Ya the map drop rate sucks bad. I'm 75 and seen only 3 maps and it's been a bytch to grind. My guess is that they are trying to slow the general population until they can bring on more content for the game. Which understandable, but just bored with the damn farming of maps.

But maps are content, and fun too because of the random factor. Why put such a barrier of entry (especially one based on rng) on content that is fun to play as opposed to endless farming of staric areas? Beats me.
