what keeps you/prevents your solo/SF?

Because my characters becomes more fun at 50-60+ when i actually have those last items i need to make the build function properly, good luck getting those items without trading.
Without trading some builds i have made would be 20% of what they became, some of them where not even that powerful or had the bestest of the bestest gear after trading to begin with.

Long story short, if trying new builds often that requires spcific gear playing self-found is a no go.

This, and recently the game become more and more of a gearcheck rather than actual skill. This is why Vaal is still my favourite boss.

SF starts to become very problematic for me at late cruel, because it is still possible to get rare items with lvl1 rolls, however the base item can be also a lvl1 with very high rolls, but obviously it's absolutely useless at that point. The variation of crap rolls become wider and wider as you progress to endgame content compared to very low level content.

If you start a new char you'll eventually get upgrades soon, but in late game you won't. It would be ok, if it happened becouse you already have high enough rolls on everything you own, but sadly this isn't the situation.

So IMO it would greatly increase the SF viability if the devs could reduce the crap roll factor on items somehow in higher difficulties. I am NOT asking for top tier rolls on everything, but i don't wanna see 1-2 added damages on a lvl70 sword, nor ruining a decent chest with a +10 extra hp roll when i know it would be possible to get 90 like something.
My actual solution for this problem would be making all items roll for the available maximum (T1) minus 3 tiers stats at minimum, so there would be a minimum of T3 rolls for every item with a lesser possibility of T2 stats and even less for T1. This would make a more steady gear progression, along with a better SF experience while keeping the excitement and value of getting T1 rolls.

While my solution seems simplistic to the current itemisation at first sight, you do realize that there is a factor of which base item will drop (preferred type, preferred base level, number of stats, type of stats), it would still be difficult to find VERY good items.

Thats it, i hope you, and the devs can accept this as a constructive feedback on whats happening when you actually plaing the game, and not go for trading every time.

If you share items between characters self-found is really easy.

The main issue for me is that i am a theory-crafter and as such i need extremely specific gear to facilitate "edgy" builds that try to push the limits of certain mechanics provided within the game.

Both to learn those mechanics and use in future craft's and to understand there viability or power/weaknesses.

But really if you use your stash and items found by previous character, self found can hardly be called hard in my opinion.

Peace,

2h groundslam? 2h maces are the easiest rare to find/craft and make it viable.

please define "easiest".

2-handed maces are a category with some of the game's best leveling uniques in it, but when looking at blues and rares, they aren't easier to get compared to other weapons.

Ventiman is right: Ground Slam is extremely gear-dependant.
most melee builds are really, but when using a 2-hander which provides zero defence (or a staff that has extremely low block chance) - you need to compensate with superior damage.

I like to enjoy PoE

There should be an option like hardcore where you select "self found" and a separate ladder so people can compete.
Let the games begin
