what keeps you/prevents your solo/SF?

Pretty much the same reason why I breath instead of cucumber.
Casually casual.

I play a wide variety of builds and I hate to "share gear" between chars.
Then I hate to "settle for anything less than a 6L" or missing core unique items that makes the build.
This means I need a lot of good gears which will cost a fortune.
I SF for about a year when I started back in beta and during the year I accumulated MAYBE 10ex worth in currencies total with only 5 pure ex drops and 3 divine... then I learned trading which makes 3 to 5 ex a day if I remain active.
The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Welcome to PoE.
I played the trading game in Diablo 2 and have no desire to ever do that again. Playing with the items I pick up is a fun challenge for me, at least while playing through the difficulties. Once I start maps I'll do a little trading to convert the currency I've collected into uniques I can't realistically expect to find, but I rarely play characters beyond that point.

For me, trading means spending time not having fun in order to make the game easier. That's not what I want.

i would love to play solo selffound if it wasnt for the insane gear and lifecheck cruel dominus makes it close to impossible to play hc selffound

Sorry man, but that is such a poor excuse... If anything, Normal, Curel and Merc up to mid Act 3 is exactly where self-found works splendidly. It's only at Merc Dom & maps where you can bog down to a stop (depending on build, needed links, specific unique gear).

In Cruel you still gain levels very fast, gear upgrades are everywhere and you have many tools at your disposal to defeat bosses (since you don't yet need to specialise into 1 or 2 skills, like in late game). It's the best time to play SF!!

I never ripped to Cruel Dom in HC leagues. Nemesis (2H spectral throw scion, 1H spectral throw ranger), Invasion (searing bond templar, dual strike claw shadow), Bloodlines (2H Static strike duelist) - all 100% solo SF play

To answer OP: there are no excuses to not play SF up to late Merc Act3 or early maps. I don't understand players that gear up through instant shopping (talking about rares here, not specific uniques), while gear upgrades are still dropping everywhere. dafuq do you play an ARPG for??

why some of you keep mocking self-founders?

Because they keep on making threads about self-found, like anyone really cares about them?
It is like if I were going around and creating threads "hey, why do you not trade, self-founders?", and then in the thread asked why SF people keep on mocking traders.

Do I have to search far, to find any evidence for my claims? Look post up:

Dude, seriously. Play your thing, and shut up. "Why the fuck u no trade?! R u retorded?!! XDDD HYHYHYHYHYHYH" - what is the point of this? Also, nobody needs fucking excuses to play the game it was designed to be played... : /

If you are doing your thing for the sake of it, then just do it, and stop making a big thing out of it. Nobody cares.

And even more, there are people who wants game changed, because they chose to go SF.

How can you NOT stand against it, when SF cancer (excuse the wording, I find it funny : D) is trying to consume your favorite game, and take your chlidren?

I have nothing against people playing their self-imposed challenge. But I don't want changes to be made on that basis, or any argument starting with "but when you are self-found...". Self-found never was, and never will be design for PoE.

The same way you don't understand why SF people wont play the game tradecore "as is designed", those who actually enjoy finding their own loot don't understand how you can gear up through Google.

To each his own. Up to maps SF works great, after that I trade too, for orbs, because the game becomes pay-to-play.

Pay-to-play. Pay with in-game currency. How is that even wrong? o__o

I dont think Pay2Play means what you think it means.

News flash: If you dont pay a monthly subscription, dont get any ingame power or XP boosting perks or you dont pay up front and for each expansion its not Pay2Play (except for P2W fireworks, but thats P2W not P2P).

Did I say it was wrong? I'm just stating how it is - you will never yourself find as many orbs as are required to play the endgame, so you have to use other people's orbs too. I'd prefer a different approach, content gated with gameplay difficulty, not trading, but it is what it is. That's why at this point I adapt to the game design and trade.

I don't think you understood what you read. I was talking about having to spend a ton of orbs on mapping - aka pay orbs to play the (end)game. Orbs you wont naturally find yourself, but have to buy them from others.
