I bought into the beta and its not very impressive. its basically pick one skill and use nothing else kind of gameplay. trouble is the skills are boring. Also the areas which have no randomization are dull and repetative.

I like the game a lot, its still a work in progress of course but if you like TQ you'll love this game. Personally I enjoy it much more than PoE - simply because there is far less praying to the RNG gods.
"the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

I finished it with 2 chars and got quite interested in it. It's cool but its nowhere near as good as POE. Also imo, it will never be launched. The development is going way too slow.

I bought it back in June of last year and despised it. I wanted to play an ARPG but I don't have Internet back home (small town in the woods). Shit's boring, yo.
Don't know how the game is now, though You make my ochinchin go doki doki.

Played Grim Dawn until lvl 25. Its an okish pastime but not nearly as good as PoE (its still work in progress).

I absolutely loved Titan Quest and played countless hours of it, with countless characters and all kinds of mods. I was quite excited about Grim Dawn. I finally purchased it one day when it was on sale and, unfortunately, did not like it much. I actually prefer Titan Quest. I think I prefer the settings (Ancient Greece - Orient, etc.) of Titan Quest and the classes and all. When compared to PoE though, TQ and GD seem a bit old and clunky to me. The result? I have over 1500 hours in PoE not counting the time I played it without Steam - so, probably approaching 2000 hours in total, and only 2 hours in Grim Dawn... (On a side note I also loved Dungeon Siege, and I loved Dungeon Siege 2 even more. I could not wait for DS3. I finally bought it on a Steam sale for like $3.74 and played it for 15 minutes and uninstalled it. Total trash.) |

I've played it quite a lot with most of the classes.
Grim dawn is a very different game than Path of exile. They might share the ARPG genre but almost everything about them is different. Grim dawn is much slower. Attacks like Cleave in Path of exile as at least a 2.5 second cool down in Grim dawn, so you have to attack the monsters one by one. This is what we thought Path of exile would be in closed beta but it has changed to be a game about maximizing area of effect attacks. Grim dawn is much darker and shows you much less of what is going on. It is often that you have no idea what is hitting you. It can be an archer or spellcaster off screen, behind a bush etc. Grim dawn is open world where as Path of exile is instance based. This makes a huge difference for the atmosphere. Grim dawn gives you limited mobility. Path of exile has mirror arrow, lightning warp, leap slam, flicker strike, whirling blades. Grim dawn have two abilities which lets you run to a different place fast but those have a cool down. Also, enemies easily surround you in grim dawn giving you no other option but to take the damage. The biggest problem of Grim dawn, for me, is that you have no way of knowing who is damaging you are what type of damage you take. There are many more damage types in Grim dawn and you have very limited ways of dealing with this. Path of exile always gives you options. Anyway, shouldn't this be in the off topic section? |

GD has potential, but the animation and the limited diversity makes it a "short" game.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

It didn't look ready for prime time when I last looked into it. I will try it at some point and give it a fair shot.
