What is your honest opniion about Grim Dawn compared to POE?
I'm on grim dawn since early stage and it's a really promising game i'm agree on fact the dev is a bit slow but it's still interesting and good times on it give it a try if you can ! :)
I also regret the lack of " dynamic " feels. Hf :)

" Yea GD really need some desync feature in place to prevent all hacks like PoE has. The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.
Welcome to PoE. |

I liked Titan Quest better than GD

" Really? How come? I am just curious. I played both and I thought Grim Dawn felt a lot better than Titan Quest. "Danger is like jello, there's always room for more."

" "Act 4 will begin to roll out in the third quarter 2015" <- not very far behind PoE. :) |

" Depends on build. My pistol/shield Demolitionist is very AoE focused. It could probably be summarized as PBAoE + thorns. :) " Sprinkle in a bit of desync and PoE is exactly the same. ;) " Haven't really found this to be an issue. Not sure if I am wearing any increased movement speed gear but my GD character feels like a PoE using +30% movement speed boots. |

" Ya I really like the game, I think the graphics are good, tho as a graphic designer a lot of its UI makes me shudder, as does PoEs tbh. Its a single player game, the whole "cheating" thing is kind of funny, why would you cheat in a single player game? Thats like getting a copy of a highschool exam paper and then filling it by yourself at home using the internet to get all the answers... it doesnt mean anything, you dont get a grade, youre not even a student, wut? lolol. /giveall Its a good game, you play through the story, find items, the items are interesting, theres builds, thinking, mechanics, its fun. Its offline though, its single player, I dont hate the fact PoE is online, because I know this is how it is. How long did people play Dragon Age Origins? Neverwinter Nights? Anyone grind 'endgame' in those titles for 1000s of hours? I think not. Its not an online, trade economy, community game like PoE. Sure Poe probably has more builds etc, a few other factors that give it some length, but really who would sit around and grind 1000s of hours in PoE to keep trying new builds if they were the only person playing it on the planet? Some for sure, but not many. Part of PoE is the interactions, the value playing in a trade economy gives what you find, if you find a Mjolner and you have no interest in playing those builds, the item still has value. Human beings are social creatures, we like to share, share our music with people, share good food, hey you got to hear this track, taste this dish, its what we are. Even a guy like Anuhart who is probably one of the few that would actually grind away as the last man on earth, he streams what he does, links items to people on his friends list, talks theory, interacts. If you look at a single player style game like DA:O, like Neverwinter Nights, like TQ, like Torchlight, like Grim Dawn, you see what PoE would be like offline, and why they will not give us offline while theres still an online worth talking about. You see the polar opposite that a self found league would sit somewhere between, a limited, far shorter lived and less treasured experience for most players, not all, but most. GGG know this even if a lot of the players cant see it themselves, its why they built the game the way they built it, with ladders, with trading, with a game designed around a community, with no p2w built in, with no self found league, with no offline mode. If I got this game and saw a way to play offline with "drops based around self found not drops based around trading" I would have chosen that mode, because I came here for a weekend away from Diablo 3, no plans to stay, and who doesnt want more drops? I was denied such a thing, and 2 years later, 5k hours grinding, Im still here, and the game experience has been a million times more rewarding as a result. Theyre not stupid or blinkered, they know what makes a game like this amazing. Grim Dawn is still an awesome game, but it is what it is, a single player story game. Its worth checking out imo because it truly is a fun weekend away from the PoE life, a weekend away youll get to enjoy time and time again over the years with different classes and multiclassing and items to find. I love it, but it will never be PoE, its not even a game you can compare to PoE, ultimately 2 completely different beasts. GD has more legs than your average single player, done in 2 days game that costs you full whack price, thats for sure, theres 100s of hours in there to be enjoyed. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I moved to GD as it lacks the major flaws I despised in PoE.
It doesn't mean it's better, it's just different. And fucks me better. Both games are incomparable, though in the same genre, they target different audience. GD is a nice game with a great potential. Most of the comments here, coming out of people who played the game for several hours, are irrelevant. The same words I've heard about PoE from random people, who just passed by and didn't spent enough time to even know the game. This is a buff © 2016

" So many assumptions in your post and wrong conclusions. Its interesting that you talk about singleplayer games without big player base, but skip the ones that have one. Look at skyrim a game that doesnt even have multiplayer, and didnt get any expansions for few years now and it has 6 time more people playing it now than PoE and people playing it for over 1000h. Its telling you something. Hack look at torchlight 2 that you said in your post. The game is same for 2 years now and is in top 50 most played games in steam and over 2000 people every day playing it, while poe has over 5000 people with constant updates every few months. The main reason why PoE is "popular" in not because of comunity, or trading, interaction. No, its because of constant new updates and mini expansion for the game. If there where non of them, be sure the game will be lot less "popular". What will make you play a game for 1000h? Trading? Community? No, a good fucking game with good replayability and lot of content. Thats is what is the main reason why people will play the game for long time. |
