As far as I am aware, you said in your Q/A with Ziggy that you haven't actually played or tried ANY of the mechanics you've been changing. This includes the Eldritch Battery change, the Reduced Mana change, and I guess a lot of others. Granted, I didn't watch it; I can't bear to hear someone speak for hours on a game he designs but doesn't play. I've had enough of devs like that already.

I don't want to sound insulting, condescending or anything. Please take this in the kindest way possible: You're not meant to be a balancer. Pick another job for yourself. I appreciate that you've probably also done loads of good things for PoE. But drastically changing balance in a way that will affect everyone's permanent setup? Ruining mechanics that are working perfectly as an attempt at "balance" instead of introducing other mechanics that could give them competition?

Not a fan at all.

If you're just the "face" of the balance team - get out of there. (Edit: because they don't know what they're doing is what I mean by that)

As GGG's latest "minor balance adjustment" Reduced Mana bomb amply illustrates, these gratuitous monkeywrench moves are not intended as fine tuning of subtle synergy issues. What it's really about is indescriminately breaking a wide swath of builds via passive aggressive sabotage of fundamental resource management mechanisms. Such radical shifts in build dynamics defy any long-term vision of gameplay balance, they serve instead to create maximum disruption with minimal development effort. That is why arguments based on analyses of overpowered synergy interactions fall on persistently deaf ears, because what GGG is really concerned with is balance of power. The targets they're after are not the most OP builds, but the most popular.

Balance is not about making everything similar, but about making variety viable. In this context, I literally cannot think of anything which was more overpowered in PoE than the relationship between Reduced Mana and reservation skills.

The salty ones in this thread have simply grown to accept an auto-include as a given rather than as the abomination it always has been.

I understand poe forums might serve as a good tool to practice eloquent speech and big words, but 'passive aggressive sabotage of ...mechanisms' doesnt make any sense whatsoever. there is nothing 'passive aggressive' about GGG revising (or sabotaging if you'd like) their own game. certainly nothing passive about it.

All I know about Enlighten is that it is now a reserve-specific RM with a more sane MCM. I think splitting it from Reduced Mana was a good call. I probably need more details, however.
