Been playing d3 last few days and id like to say this..
PoE is like rocky and D3 the big russian with unlimited money and science but still can't beat the little guy who talks funny, sure the big russian has better looking abs but it's about heart god damn it!
Don't ever change GGG! |

The problem is PoE's engine is dated, poorly made, and takes lots of resources to improve. Changing over to Unreal, while it would be amazing for everyone involved, would probably involve a massive re-write of the engine, which means either developing for two engines while the re-write is underway (which would be expensive and massively slow down progress), or just stop producing new engine-modifying content for two years while they grind it out (also a poor decision).
So what they're left with is what they're doing now: working as best they can with the shitty engine, making it a little less shitty every year. To be sure there's going to be a lot of deep fundamental issues with the engine that'll always stunt progress, such as the massive amount of work involved in making new animations, since every single armor piece in the game would have to be manually rigged to each class to get the armor to show up properly. " that's funny in diablo2 you lost EVERYTHING when a hardcore character died and i don't remember exactly but i think the xp penatly was higher as well poe is pretty long for a new player, there is plenty of space to have easier content and make it gradually more difficult... just like it is now lol what's bad early is how slow your character is and the fact that you run out of mana very easily, it's too late now but in general if your character was just a bit faster in both movement and attack/cast animation it would make the game much more appealing imo, it's better to have a harder fight but at least be able to maneuver no crawl around with a bucket on your head and no pants (also... the characters need some new clothes come on, they look absolutely terrible) | |
" Doubt it. This isn't the kind of game that would look good on the Blizzard launcher, appeal to a wide base, or be casual friendly. PoE is like the polar opposite of anything they would try to buy out. Never mind that they have their own arpg franchise that they have decades of IP development and millions of dollars sunk into. They would make a SC/WC arpg (which they won't) before they ever bought IP from anyone else. |

I am a graphic snob and I find Poe graphics better than the same old cartoons style of blizzard. Map could use a update but poe has a lot of detail on max settings
Never want the to change |

" This is a good point, PoE would be a lot more streamlined and casual because it would need to make a LOT more money to sustain. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Blizzard does some really annoying things to save money on their servers, like disconnect you from your game if you idle for 15 minutes and instantly/permanently close instances you leave/disconnect from. IMO any performance gain for that is not worth the annoyance.
Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.

" Saddest thing about d3 is that threads stop at page 25, limiting all discussions. Or else the whines for stash tabs over there would be over 1million pages long lol. It's simple really. Blizz gonna make it extra hard to give you more stash because they don't want to fork out the dough. Really sad what activision has become. Just money hungry. Even though i think d3 is quite a good game activision has really punished their players a LOT by not listening to them, and placing money above everything else. Good thing diablo 3 reputation gone to trash because of it. The downside is that if you keep f'king over the player base it's gonna come back and bite you in the end. The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG

I am sorry but PoE is as smooth as baby skin these days. If there are any issues I am betting they are on the players side. The days of desync are long over and every patch has made lockstep better.
I play on a mid-range gaming pc, with an SSD, and a 100 mbps connection. I get server lag maybe once a week. Keep PoE2 Difficult.
