Imagine PoE using the unreal engine.

If they came out with news on changing to Unreal Engine, legacy players would get so fucking pissed, it's not even funny.
They'd have to pretty much reset everything.

I played all hack and slash games since Diablo 1 and I must tell you that Path of Exile is the most complex, well-made and interactive game I ever played. If I had a poll to vote what was the best hack and slash game ever created I would chose Path of Exile becouse the concept behind it and the mecanics makes him the best ever!

Even with the bugs and it s still the best.

I am from Romania and here the salary is very bad ” like 200 $ but I still find or gather resources to donate for this game becouse GGG as a company is fantastic. How many games there are out there where actually the developers listen to the players needs?

I don't really know of WoW much to be honest. Never really played it. I only know that it's story is butchered, and same old stuff is recycled into use. Which is really a sign of lazy storytelling, as it's a lazy trick used in TV shows, video-games, movies etcetera. It means the author is unable to create new interesting characters, events etc. Well, most of the time.

What I know is, blizzard has the capacity to sabotage their own game. So, I can confirm. It's not even producing good burgers anymore. It's reaping the fruits of their earlier successes and making people unable to leave due to the sunk cost fallacy they have gotten themselves into. Also, whoever made that burgers anology has gotten my disgust. Of all the food there to come up with, you choosed burgers? Really?

You don't like burgers? Well my analogy only make sense with fast food.

If you understand what happen to Blizzard North, you should know People who are making D3 aren't the same as the ones making D2. The game that Blizzard North was working on was scrapped and they have to make new one from the ground up. The game was delayed and redesigned multiply time. The game was even delayed to specifically add the RMAH feature. I think people at blizzard knew it is gonna croak. It is more like let milk it for all it is worth and damage control. D3 is the best selling game of all time and making a profit, despite how terribly bad people think it is. Only Blizzard Activision could pull that off.
They need to optimize a existing skills (KB), herald of ice shatter chain reactions and remove those accursed ground animation which add nothing to the game. Maelstrom of chaos marked the death of reasonable FPS in poe mapping.

I run a gtx 970 and i2500k and I will dip to under 5 fps every time I shatter a big pack with kinetic blast with poe on medium settings. This is not reasonable. How much money do I need to invest into my hardware or throw at GGG in order to play certain builds? It's not as bad as multistrike cyclone pre desync fix but come on now. If they can fix desync despite saying they cant then they can certainly optimize a few skills.

This does not take an engine overhaul, just enough voices and wallets and a few developers. Hell, just give us the option to turn off ground effects, excessive skill animations and herald explosions or get a mathematician to optimize the status ailment proc calculations so the server does not have a seizure each time more than 6 objects are hit simultaneous by an elemental skill.

PoE is such a great game hampered by question design and balance direction and absolutely crippled by lack of optimization and excessive fireworks shows

I just want attack animations in PoE to not suck. Almost every skill in the game uses the default(awful) attack animation with some kind of particle effect flying off. It just irks me every time. When I first heard Vigilant Strike announced and then when I saw its reveal. I felt my heart sink all the way into my feet at the animation.

I wish GGG had more money. Someone rob Blizzard's vaults.

What're you talking about?
But I agree, Vigilant Strike seems so lackluster, actually just looks like a basic attack.

Responding to this belief that needing an SSD makes PoE a bad game. Uhm, yeah no. Having an SSD now is about as essential as a decent video card. Just a shit tonne cheaper, so there's hardly an excuse not to have one.

As for unoptimised, fuck. Mordheim is forty bucks up front and takes over a minute to get a mission loaded. Still a damn good game, warts and all.

Same for PoE. I maintain this is a forty to fifty buck game, which is plenty for tabs and transfers. The only mtxes you really need. Maybe 20 bucks a year to simulate DLC.

A life without an SSD is not a life worth living. Anyone who hasn't used one doesn't even know, and as soon as they use one then every computer they ever own won't be without one.

I think people confuse unoptimized with not having decent computer hardware of their own a lot of the time. I remember everyone praising how well optimized Mad Max was but that game had sand, sand, more sand, and character models equivalent to Batman Arkham Asylum. That game just wasn't demanding, and nondemanding games are what hold back the PC.

That doesn't mean there shouldn't be options to let it run on low-end PCs, that's the beauty of PC, but then they complain it looks bad because their hardware is bad.

I have the fastest SSD on the market and an O/C 980TI with 32GB of Ram and the latest i7 Skylake. And still Path slows to a crawl when I shatter entire screens with my Lightning Arrow/Hatred combo. So.... yeah. Game still has serious optimization issues. I agree with your premise, a SSD is essential now adays. However, let's not try to get away from the original point of the topic starter which is that PoE still needs serious optimizations.
Many once unviable builds were gated behind desync.

Now its gated behind badly optimized code that brings rigs that can run crysis on high settings to their knees.

You want to play any sort of ranged skill that shatters? No, don't even try unless you want 50 fps roller coasters.
