Let me give you precious little flowers a breakdown of GGG's likely thinking.
People playing 100 or more hours a week comprise, I can only suspect but I think it's a fair guess, 0.1% of the playerbase. Probably less, let's be honest, most people don't really aspire to being a professional seat shiner.
The game now suits those players less because the extra hours they're putting in per week don't given them a massive multiplicative power advantage. Don't disagree with that. Perhaps they're twice as powerful as a player doing 10 hours per week, rather than 10x they would have been previous to drop changes and ascendancies. However, as others have said, and this is very, very key to consider *the league has the best retention rate of any league ever*.
Connect the damn dots. GGG is doing what any smart company would do. Why not cater to you? Because giving a taste of fun to the wider playerbase and then taking it away would be the dumbest thing any company could do (you were already having fun, you're just now having a bit less but let's face it, they already got you addicted). Potentially cutting the playerbase back isn't going to be winning in the bank account stakes. Let me just pull at Goetzjam here and just say 'nah, not gonna happen'. ;)

i got 36 challenges and uber in like 10 days. 2-3 hour per day, 5-6 at weekends.
dark souls 3 and tree of savior gonna entertain me after my 9 to 18 job from now on. poe is dead, no challenge.

Would you be more happy if GGG made 3-6 actual challenges, such that there are 44? Would you complain less?
I don't quite get why people like you complain about everything being "handed to the casuals" but expect that everything in terms of challenges is handed to them.

So you are telling me that you did Uber within about 37 (2.5+5.5+5.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+5.5+5.5) hours of playing time? Well, you must be pretty good then. I cannot do that. You also got 36 challenges within that time? Did you buy them, did you find them yourself? The "clear these zones" challenges alone take more than an hour each probably. The T1 unique ID challenge you either have to buy or be insanely lucky.
Honestly, I believe that your time calculation is pretty badly off.
Also, same applies as above. Are you so uncreative that the only thing that you accept as a challenge is something that has "challenge" written on it from GGG, like, officially?
Also, I would describe me as rather casual, and I am not happy. But that is not because acquiring items is too easy, I am totally fine with that. It is because it is possible to trivialize all content, and the harder-to-trivialize content is too rare.

Should i just play with feet or cut some fingers off ? It would make game more difficult for a while too, huh ?
Im unhappy with the actual drops, there is nothing hard to obtain really. Im just fine with what i do, im trying some stuff when i want to, but in general what drives me to play is perfecting the gear and leveling the character. level100 shouldnt be achievable in a week or even a month, thats kind of lame to make it possible when they clearly stated somewhere on reddit that leveling to 100 should take months, nowdays its all different.
You are saying that i can make game challenging for myself, indeed. I can also make a new account, play SSF along with the streamers without trading.
But thats not the point - you dont feel excited when you actually dropping some uniques these days - either you just decide to leave it on ground because its worth nothing or you just sigh "oh, another shav, would rather see an ex dropped". If devs want uniques to actually worth nothing and easy to obtain just make vendors selling them in bulks for few chaos lol.

I dont complain about the lab, i liked all this time i have wasted there even tho i dont feel its fine to run lab 300 times to achieve a single challenge and i dont feel like it was rewarding. I only want to see droprate changes so that maps would be smt hard to obtain again and uniques actually worth something so you would be glad to see Tabula drop once in a while, not every 2-3 days.
Wont complain about bad optimization since im not so sure that the game should run as good as it is now for me on my crappy low-end laptop lol. But would be so nice of them to make ground effects not to overheat my VGA as much >.>

I agree with a fair amount of things in the op, I feel like it needs to be harder.
If its the price we have to pay for the game being thriving and funded then sure I guess. Personally I put a lot of the player retention down to the subclasses, maybe Im wrong I dunno. Id like the game to be a bit more challenging either way.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

It sounds like some people are just getting burnt out on the game. Take a couple months off and skip the next league.
I also don't know why people who play fotm builds are complaining about content being trivial. To me the magic of poe is the endless possibilities for being creative and making interesting and unconventional builds. I've played a couple meta builds before and tbh they didn't feel very rewarding. Being able to do endgame content with your own original builds is much more rewarding. But then again I enjoy theorycrafting as much as actually playing the game.
