How can we fix Hierophant?
Illuminated devotion ascendency is so unipressive getting 50% penetration would be interesteing and enables to turn you helment in to a 5 or 6L item and with the right setup having 3 6L equipped.
Ritual of awakening the penalty is pretty much not nessecary here sanctuary of thought 50% reduced manacost of skills is pretty much useless too since totembuild often use curses and a lot of auras 30-40% less mana reserved would be more helpfull since you have to travel anyway a lot with totemsbuilds would save a lot of points to invest into other stuff Ingame: Snoxz

" Well the Mana reduction does have its uses. Also with Zealots Oath the high ES can be used to substantially increase survivability while never really running out of mana. The thing that Hierophant lacks is giving benefits on the other side. The damage increase for totems isn't that impressive, you get 3 totems with 24% less damage on each, giving you 228% damage, that's 28% more damage than what you get from just two totems. However you are losing a lot of other things other builds could provide and 3 totems do create some issues on its own. Of course there are things that would be cool, but they are not really codable in a game. Imagine your first two totems would get full damage while the third woul get a higher reduction than now, this would open the build up to use more utility totems, while also placing a third totem with maybe 50% less damage, which would still be more damage than the amount the hierophant currently has. However it is impossible for the game to decide which totem is the one you want the 50% less damage on, because it would need a specific rule applied to that (like every third totem deals 50% less damage which would allow the hierophant to deal 300% damage by getting the 50% less damage totem destroyed and placing the next one. Or could just apply to the last totem summoned which means you would always have to resummon all 3 totems if one of your dps totems runs out. For a totem char however all the nodes except the ones applying to totems are mostly useless. Getting some ES or Mana is cool but not necessary. I guess the idea is placing those 3 totems and using a skill to deal damage in addition to that, by utilizing the benefits you get like Leech, AoE or Penetration... but that hardly works, since you would need to invest into more mana or the bottom side (which would take 4 points, thus not reachable), since totem builds usually don't need and thus don't have high manareg. The bottom nodes on the other hand are create for selfcasters eliminating all mana needs that could exist while providing nice defensive stats. However the Hierophant provides no damage benefits for those builds, which is a bit odd and one of the reason it is ditched in favor of elementalist or inquisitor. Последняя редакция: Emphasy#0545. " I quite like the reduced mana cost. Mana parts are ok, mana and mom are all ok. It's the everything else that doesn't make much sense to me. Hierophant feels like mana guy with some completely random shit thrown in cause ideas ran out. 177 Последняя редакция: toyotatundra#0800. Время: 7 нояб. 2016 г., 10:21:46

I have thought of one hierophant build which could use his nodes at better extent, kind of.
It's aegis aurora build. With skill tree you could go south and forget all about ES, stack mana, life, armor, block and damage. ES will come from mana and will be recovered by aegis, life will be recovered by leech or pots, and mana with gains/pots or leech again. It looks that it could work, but this build would be pretty out of current meta- invested mostly into tankiness and most of investment goes into aegis which recovers 400-800 es per block, when the rips comes from one shot damages most of the time. In any case, just wanted to share some thoughts after some time:) |

For me hierophant is more about Mana than totems honestly. So would be great to see improvment in that department.
I miss the D2 Mana shield stuff and golden orb above the head IGN : Sir_Big

well.. properly built Hierophant says 'takes 40% less non-DoT damage' and it is all thanks to mana.
with legacy Cloak of Defiance (or some corruptions that are rather unfeasible to get reliably) you can bring it up to 50%. it is pretty damn amazing |

" It's quite an investment tho, and you'd need maybe at least 3 or 4 jewel slot taken, in particular places of the tree to have 50int in radius. Unless I'm missing some other uniques / mechanics. But MoM isn't exclusive to hierophant. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" You can actually realistically get 57% damage taken as mana with a legacy cloak. You can get more but that's pushing the limits and stretches the passive tree. So 47% in a league is easily achievable. For top investors 50% is realistic in a league. Peace, -Boem- edit : i should note that i agree that the hierophant lacks direction. I think a good solution would be to add another ascendancy branch behind the 3-item/5-link route. Something like "Constructed blessing" - skills slot in helm gain 15% more cast speed - skills slot in gloves gain 10% more area damage - skills in boots gain 15% more attack speed I feel it's the lack of another route that presents itself as a lack of power. your basically forced into a determined set. " I was referring to the "damage taken gained as mana", because even with a crapload of mana regen, I don't think that you will have enough for really difficult situations, you cannot pot as easily on your mana because the flask values are pretty low. You could use spectrum jewel to try to get 4k+ free mana, but that also is quite a big investment imho. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. Последняя редакция: Fruz#6137. Время: 27 нояб. 2016 г., 09:42:24

^Was more or less a little tangent that you can get higher value's. Is it practical, in line with every other form of hybrid defense, it is not.
Splitting ehp buffers has always been punitive in PoE since it splits resources. a 50% MoM character would simply make all mana nodes a 0.5 value life node, which could be interesting in therms of tree travel. It could lead to efficient pathing, but not sure if there is much to be gained from that since you would still need to branch out for damage. and the best secondary layer of defense for MoM is acro/phase acro which is opposite of the tree already. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
