That feel when the Chaos Recipe becomes a waste of time
" You need to factor in time spent between maps iding, sorting, and vendoring items. I can tell you that I farmed the currency for my Voll's Devotion, Lightning Pen Vinktars, and Xoph's Blood in 1.5 weekends without doing a single chaos recipe...this was done from scratch as I had just spent all my currency obtaining a Cospri's malice and enough ES gear to not die while wearing a Voll's Protector. Voll's Devotion: 170c Light Pen Vinkt: 120c Xoph's Blood: 40c roughly 8 exalts + 2-3 ex in currency unspent in stash Последняя редакция: alg0801#6288. Время: 6 февр. 2017 г., 13:22:29

" Unidentified recipe just seems crazy to me, given the value of items potentially being vendored without you even knowing it. Obviously, yes, chaos recipe provides a constant, small flow of income, but what about the 10 ex amulet that you never even know you had, that you vendor for 2c? U MAD?

assuming the chaos recipe takes 100% time. the ppl who do it successfully spend 90% the same way the ppl who dont. They just have to spend an extra 10% selling stuff. Literally 6mins/hr.
So...it works. If the method wasnt successful , ppl wouldnt do it! |

" How many super rich players do you know that got that way doing the chaos recipe? I'll tell you the number is a LOT smaller than the number that don't do it. U MAD?

In my opinion the question isn't how much game currency you gain per hour of POE and if the chaos recipe is worth it but how much enjoyment you get per hour of POE.
If the only part of POE that makes you happy is being or getting rich (and that's perfectly fine if that's your playstyle) The Chaos recipe simply is not for you. Same if you like playing POE like a trade simulator (and that's fine too). Some people like taking it slow and easy. The chaos recipe is for them. They aren't going to get rich, but they will have fun and still earn some currency. I recommend people look at what they find the most fun for them, and then based on the way they enjoy POE decide if the chaos recipe is or is not a waste of time. If keeping up with the Jones or sacrificing enjoyment just to afford a build gets to be to much of a detriment to enjoying the game then in the end when you can afford what you want you still won't be happy. Play how you like and let the various options POE has work in your favor. |

" What kind of philosophical mumbo-jumbo about wealth related happiness is this? Every player has the desire for certain levels of wealth because wealth is required at the root for character building. Chaos recipe is just a means to an end. It's not about telling people how to play. Doing the Chaos recipe is not naturally fun. Accumulating wealth is. Getting 1 step closer to your goal is fun and driving. The purpose is to solve their currency issues through other means, that may be more efficient. Последняя редакция: alg0801#6288. Время: 6 февр. 2017 г., 15:05:49

" That means ggg upped exa drop rates. They adjust rates whenever they feel the economy needs more (or less) of something. If you're seeing a surge of something, it's not RNG it's because ggg has boosted them. Deliver pain exquisite

" It is possible, but all this does is make the Chaos recipe even less worth it. To put it into perspective... 5 exalts on standard would be something like 450 chaos. On Breach this would be 250+ Chaos right now. There are videos of streamers doing 100 runs of a single map to evaluate currency gains. They end up making like 30c from Chaos recipe. Speed clearing will result in 140 maps in the same period of time with no Chaos coming from vendor. If you do time studies on "100 Dunes runs" or something, you end up with something like 5min/run with 15c generated from Chaos recipe and direct 1-2 exalt drops. Let's say 1 ex per 100 maps. Speed runner might see 3.5min/run resulting in 140 maps to your 100. At 1000 runs with Chaos recipe, speed runner would be at 1400 runs. Speed runner would net 300c less from recipe due to not doing the Chaos recipe over that time frame. Taking observed drops from these time studies, they would gain from drops... +160 Chaos +4 Exalted (200c) +4 Divine (40c) +240 Fusings (60c) +40 Regrets (40c) +200 Alchs (54c) +120 Scours (68c) +480 Chance (65c) +2400 Jewellers (145c) ... 40% more of every type of drop with the same time spent. I covered most of them above. Choosing to do the Chaos recipe in this case gets you 300 more Chaos out of your 1000 maps. Choosing to speed run your maps without doing Chaos in this case... 832c - 300c for a net +532c over 1400 maps with same time spent This is before consideration of having 40% more of other drops like Divination cards, Rare/Unique drops, Alts/Chroms, Splinters... You get the picture. So why would anybody continue to do the Chaos recipe knowing this? This is the Red Pill of POE. Последняя редакция: alg0801#6288. Время: 7 февр. 2017 г., 13:44:47

" Let me try to make it more simple for you. The Chaos recipe is not necessarily a waste of time. It all depends on how you play the game. Each player should examine if it is a waste of time based on their playstyle. So any type of blanket statement about the chaos recipe, like "It's a waste of time" is fundamentally wrong because so many people play the game so many different ways. So to answer the OP's question " It depends on each persons playstyle and preferences there is no one yes/no answer because each person has fun in a different way. As to your : " Not everyone is interested in the most efficient way to accumulate wealth. Nor should they consider a method bad just because it isn't the fastest. If your killing your self running dried lake over and over again, when you could make a little less currency per hour but enjoy that time much more you should choose the other method. For some, not all, the chaos recipe is a valid option but only they can make that decision. |

Chaos recipe and picking the smallest orbs and scrolls is sub optimal.
