What are your thoughts on the current amount of death penalties in game
Scared to loot and scared to play due to disconnects and lag.
When are we getting mounts for the large maps? |

It's very very very outdate punishment like a clothes soak in aged milk and slap in player face. It's a pile of over punish that drop in unfair difficulty. It's like they can't decide ... which one should we have? okay, let stack all of them up and (may be) slowly remove it if player don't like it.
People like to compare with soul, which I completely disagree because in soul, death is most of the time - fair beside those trollololol moment. You know why you die, you can think how to overcome it and even more - chance to collect those lost in full. Do PoE 2 able to regain those 10%, portal, map yadayada? PoE 2 right now is a pile of idea that slap together, hope that it work without carefully craft it..... remind me of Alone in the Dark (2008). Slow in, slow out cuz I'm just a player. -------------------------------------------- Последняя редакция: nnilfoest#6766. Время: 8 янв. 2025 г., 18:50:56

" It can NEVER get hard so long as all those punishments are in the game. The devs simply cannot design challenging content for the game as it is. When you meet a boss for the first time, it should take three or four deaths just to see and understand the mechanics, then another handful to figure out how to use all your skills to overcome then. Then you have to actually execute: nailing all your dodge rolls, movement skills, timing your attacks, etc... to take down the boss. Maps should always be able to overwhelm or surprise you with packs of mobs and rare monster spawn. If most players can go more than ten maps without dying, the game is too damn easy. As for hardcore - you're playing a rogue-lite. You shouldn't expect to be able to start a character and automatically take it all the way to endgame. Something will probably kill you along the way. Regroup and start the next loop. Lather, rinse, repeat. At least you can pass down equipment you stored in your stash, so each loop becomes easier. Последняя редакция: Mouser#2899. I hate the current penalty mechanics, especially since most deaths currently are either due to bugs or due to poor monster mechanics (we've all seen the group of 5-10 enemies that are spamming frost attacks and eye of winter and you can't escape being frozen)
Every time I die I lose the will to play for the rest of the day/night and in some cases won't log on again for a few days. This is sad because when doing the campaign, death was annoying and could be frustrating but it never made me want to quit entirely like the current endgame deaths do. |

Pro xp penalty wanted players to be perfect. This is a game. You don't need to go to school to learn everything and be the best in this game. NORMAL gamers will fail time and again, not everyone has to beELITE!
Why rob the hours made in progress in making mistakes. As a lot have pointed out, this penalty is a deterrent for most people to experiment on build and just resort to meta builds. There are small things that can cause you to make mistakes -- network spikes, you forgot to pause game when you need to turn your attention away from the game for a bit, falling asleep on your seat for a few seconds (yes, i have done this a lot of times), etc... Give people a less punishing way to achieve a milestone! The time to grind to without dying is already a lot, why not gate it even more? |

There shouldn't be EXP penalties in a PVE game.
Period. Ever. It makes no sense. Why would you PENALIZE players for PLAYING?? Hitting 100 should just be a stepping stone in build development where now you have all the points you need to do what you want with it. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever to gatekeep level 100 from casual players in a PVE game. Visit my Steam profile here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/TheBaconOverlord/

My thoughts on the current amount of death penalties in game are that I am going to quit because of them. They are way too punishing and downright disrespectful of the players' time. The loss of XP in particular is so archaic and petty that in of itself is grounds for review bombing the entire game. It's impossible for a rational and objective observer not to think these penalties are excessively brutal in order to chain people to the proverbial hamster wheel and keep them grinding away at the otherwise pretty lackluster and virtually non-existent endgame.
In conclusion: D4 bad but PoE 2 ain't much better. A true underdog game like Last Epoch puts both to shame. |
