Proof of what exactly? It's semantics when you try and justify your own expectations because it was originally called and intended to be expansion. If the year was 2019, then yea you'd have a point. Closing your eyes and ears and ignoring everything that occurred subsequently is essentially what you are doing now. Acceptance is the first step. It will only get easier from that point.

You say "Well, you should've paid attention a few months prior PoE2 EA release",
when the issue is - it was marketed entirely different from 2019-2023 (4 years),
and even from 2023 until a bit prior PoE2 EA release not marketed as a game that's not PoE anymore (except the name).
Everyone who supported them for over 4 years got cucked in the last few months because they just changed the direction. That's the complaint here.

Imagine you like PoE2 EA how it is right now because you dislike PoE1, but in a few months GGG says "Fuck it, PoE2 was a mistake. We take it down and just port the new graphics, some mechanics and stuff into PoE1, how it originally was planned.".
That's not what was advertised to YOU prior PoE2 EA release, so... would you just eat it up!?

You guys really need to let this go. It's clear that PoE2 does not appeal to a committed and very vocal group of PoE1 players. I respect your perspective and sympathize with how you feel about the direction GGG is going, but this idea you have that everyone who ever played and enjoyed PoE1 agrees with you is just a fantasy you've built up because you're immersed in communities of like-minded people (and tend to ignore or push away people like me who don't fit into your mold).

I played PoE1 extensively as did many of my immediate friends and people in my "extended network" of gaming associate and I don't know of anyone who didn't love the game dearly and cherish the time they spent playing it, but now everyone I know who ever played PoE1 is playing and enjoying PoE2 (yes, even this patch).

Neither of us have access to the level of player activity data that would be needed to say which of our experiences represent the larger portion of the overall PoE player community - but GGG certainly has that data, and the fact that they decided to continue diverting resources away from PoE1 for the benefit of 2 despite knowing how unpopular that decision would be with the PoE1 diehards tells me pretty much all I need to know about what their data is telling them.

Yes, it showed gameplay from PoE2 - THE POE1 EXPANSION (4.0).

And if you would pay attention for a second, you would have heard Chris Wilson explaining that it is an expansion.

That was advertised for 4 years, but then in 2023, they changed it.
