XP LOSS - I actually have a good suggestion

I've said it before, but it's more apparent when you look at the leaderboards and see the unbelievably small percent of players who attain max level - most of the people in favor of XP loss don't even reach level 100 themselves. They don't care if they're stuck at level 90 forever. What's important to them, is that YOU don't achieve it & that YOU feel frustated at stolen progress.

But you can see the last 10% in PoE 2. There is not a single content that you cannot visit if you don't have level 100 so I don't know what you're talking about. And as for the cap not being 90, again so you can earn extra power and overlevel the content as another means to overall character strength. If there's no XP penalty, and the content is designed for a level 100 character and you're expected to level to 100, then there is nothing extra to gain. Why is this concept so hard to understand? It's literally EXTRA thing on top of a cap the content was designed for. In other games that don't have it you cannot earn that extra thing because you're expected to be at the hard cap of the game.

The alternative you want is that you have to reach level 100 and have the game designed around level 100 characters. You got two extra points for your character on top of the soft cap. In other games you would get 0. You actually want a worse character. You want a more boring system with less rewards because you can't stand not being able to earn more extra points on top of the extra points you've already earned. I don't get it.
"None" is my suggestion. The game is har enough with many non meta builds.

No its not "extra" content on top of the game. Lvl100 is part of the main progression of your character. If they wanted it to be optional they should have done paragon levels/resets or whatever like other games. Then let people infinitely grind however much 0.1% power they want.

Exp loss is impossible to defend. Its bad. Its outdated. It has no reason to exist. You are never convincing me or the majority of people who hate this mechanic. And the numbers don't lie, a lot of people have quit because of this 1 thing. Losing hours of progress in a game like this is bad game design. It's my exp that I earned by killing monsters. The game has no right to ever take it away.

Exp loss is just a leftover from games from 2 decades ago, because developers had no other way to inflate playtime and MMOs were so popular and they did it too. Times change, the year is 2025. It's time to move on lmao

I also thought of something like xp reward after completing a map or a set of maps its modifiers and extra content. Maybe something like completing a set of 5 breach maps gives you x2 XP gain for succeeding maps that goes to x3, x4, and x5. The same goes or maybe currency related bonus or multiplier for running othre's like Delirium, Expedition and Ritual. GGG is stuck with their old principles. More penalty, no rewards. Maybe that is Jonathan's vision. Maybe he's a visionary like MLK "I have a dream..."

I don't really care how they handle death penalty in this game, as I don't really play softcore, but It is actually funny how some people here talk like that is the thing that is stopping them to reach lvl 100.

Even if they remove it totally, 99% of the player base won't be able to reach lvl 100. Most people have no idea how bad is XP gain reduction for the last levels. It is actually harder than in poe1.

I really doubt that someone who can't handle current XP loss on death would have enough knowledge to reach lvl 100 in a reasonable time.

What "knowledge" are you talking about? This game's endgame is so barebones. You just run t16s with + zone level and some juice. That's it. Most players would reach 100 eventually with enough mapping lmao


Most people don't care how slowly they do it anyway, as long as you're making some kind of progress and are rewarded for your time investment with more player power. That is all people are asking for. Exp penalty does the complete opposite, takes progress away from the player.
