XP LOSS - I actually have a good suggestion

I think you should stop following guides and think by yourself what would make you character more resilient. Guides are often for flashy builds that kill fast but die fast.

And you can't expect to be level 100 if you are a casual player, that wouldn't be fair for the players who burnt their a...s off to get to level 100.

That is also towards them that I believe removing XP loss would be unfair.

A compromise would be the solution. 1 Bloody bar per death (without Omen).

What makes you think I did not follow a "safe leveling guide that has a strong focus on defenses"?
Also, I don't care about level 100, really. Again, people here missing the point. I care about not losing the (very) little progress I can make when I sit down at evening for an hour to play.

Exactly. Levels have nothing to do with it. It's about the exp lost. The hours of mapping that go poof when you die for no reason at all.

Removing an outdated mega annoying mechanic from 1997 in a game of 2025 is unfair? [Removed by Support]

I'm sure if you think your build through you will progress I have no doubt about it.
Sometimes it takes a bit of time and dropping the DPS - to gain it back later after you improve your gear.

It's ok if you wipe a lot, the more you will play, the more you will progress and you will wipe less. The important is to enjoy the build you are playing and I think in order to do that the best way is to cook up your own thing.

The way I see it is that XP loss is for the challenge.

I'd rather

- have a perfect game where they correct everything in order to make the wipe up to the players skill - and have the compromised xp loss.

- Than a scrambled game where they just delete XP loss. The XP loss comes from an old deep ARP heritage where most players were passionate about the game and were craving for challenge.

POE will lose its soul by simply deleting it and will be terribly unfair for the players putting in the hours and work to get to level 100.

It's not because we are in 2025 that we should ditch fundamental gaming values.

WAT? PoEs soul is in PUNISHMENT and not in items, builds, bosses, options, fun?

Now that I think about it... You are correct. PoE2s soul IS in PUNISHMENT. While PoEs soul is in items, builds, options, bosses, fun time.

You don't get it. It's not punishment, it's a challenge that comes from somewhere.
It's not supposed to ruin the fun.

It does now because it's just too harsh and is accompanied with tons of other problems that need solving.

I would have a lot of fun if these were resolved and if they would implement a 5% exp loss instead of 10%.

Then why keep it? Fix the game and then implement it. Why intentionally antagonize your customer? Zero logic.

Apparently it is according to everyone who defends exp loss.

We must continue playing games with mechanics from games older than I am lmao

What's your definition of a casual player? how many hours on a sing/le character is casual?

It's not the XP loss by itself that's bad design, it's the fact that exp gain in the 90s is already a slog due to enemies capping in the low 80s.

It's made even worse by the numerous 1 shot mechanics and slow player speed combined with mobs that are much faster, death effects that are often hidden in clutter, and off screen hits. Try running a high evasion build then talk about defense as that 1 hit results in death because there's no HP passives to mitigate that.

At the very least, map tiers should go into the 20s to counter the snails pace XP gain in the 90s. Right now where the game is at currently, exp loss does not work.
