Warning if you get hacked GGG will do nothing to fix it!!!
the tittle of the thread is kinda stupid, GGG has always said they wont recover your items and still people make these stuff.Warning for what??They are trying to stop hacks and improving even further the security to prevent these things and atm the only way some person can hack your is by getting your email password too.You should go and complain to hotmail/yahoo/gmail or whatever too.

You have ben hacked, it is your fault not ggg. "Is there such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? There is no such thing, and never has been. And the reason is that our enemies are human beings like us. They can only be our enemies in relative terms." Последняя редакция: kamil1210#5432. Время: 20 мая 2013 г., 16:27:09

Hey there,
I'm sorry to hear about your account. If you have emailed into support, I'm sure they've suggest reading Chris' post in regards to account security and theft. If you read through his comments it may shed some light onto how your personal security breached. You can find his post here: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/115464/ There are quite a few ways, and may not mean that your computer has been accessed at all. Chris also explains in his post why we have the no item restoration policy, and why it is so important that we do. Again, I'm sorry to hear about your item loss. I would personally be very bummed if I lost the items on my account.
It's a well documented fact that GGG will not do anything for you if your account is hacked. GGG has been direct and up front about this so you should have a longer more complicated password and routinely run your AV, and other utils such as Malwarebytes or Spyware Doctor to make sure your computer is not infected and your PoE log in credentials have been keylogged (and then used to steal all you hard earned loot and currency).
I'm sorry for you but GGG has warned everyone so you can't cry to them for help when this happens to you. I haven't changed my own password since OB so I'm overdue myself... time to do it now. " I know all you can currently do is point the person who got hacked to the GGG policy statements but really that is of little consolation when you have lost everything from a hacker. Is it too much to ask for GGG to do database backups once a week so you would have something to restore when Grand Theft PoE occurs. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Not to sound like a dick but they make their policy on account restoration very clear.
No need to warn us of policy they are very upfront and open about. Sorry for your loss |

" Pfft. "Floodgates". You act like every PoE player is a scumbag who would abuse the system at the slightest opportunity. Or that GGG is too stupid to see that someone has been "hacked" three times in a month. This is the line GGG gives as well. The fear is that, if GGG rolls back hacked accounts to their pre-hacked status, people will pretend to be hacked by giving their friends all their stuff and then magically getting it back. This is pretty bullshit though. Lots of companies (including Blizzard) will investigate and roll back hacked accounts. And, while I'm sure it occurs to some degree, the feared scam outlined above has certainly not caused the mass degradation of economy that GGG implies. Instead GGG doesn't even want to hear about it, which is kinda lousy. I agree that 99.99999999% of account hacks are user error. But, by turning a completely blind eye to it, GGG is not doing all they can to prevent it. If they investigated account hacks, they could ban the offending IP addresses. They could follow the items and see where they go and take actions on those accounts. They could follow the items to the RMT mules and the people who buy from them. But, instead, they offer a sympathetic pat on the head and link you to a list of ways it probably happened. That last part is good at least. But by not investigating, they miss out on a valuable opportunity to curb the behavior - and instead let it run rampant. I mean jeeze. If you were one of these account thieves, how much more likely would you be to engage in this behavior knowing that no one cares? How much more brazen would a burglar be if after every time he robbed a store, the cops showed up, told the shopkeeper he should have had a better lock and then left? Look. If it's a matter of resources, come out and say that. I wouldn't begrudge GGG if they said, "Guys. We're a small start up in the middle of beta testing and we just don't have the $$$ to hire the customer service manpower it would take to properly investigate and roll back hacked accounts. Here's our plan for getting there before launch." Instead we get fed this line about how everyone that plays PoE is a scumbag who will abuse the system at the slightest provocation. Here's a thought. If fake hacks are the reason why they investigate nothing, why not institute a one time roll-back rule? Or keep the no-rollback policy and at least investigate reported hacks? Truth is they don't want to even look. New Year's Resolutions: - Chicken Nuggets - No More Bullshit Последняя редакция: Firecrest5#0033. Время: 20 мая 2013 г., 17:54:19

" " " " I just wanted to clarify that we do infact investigate every compromised account that we come across. There are frequently large ban waves against these accounts and all of their associated accounts. There are many measures taken against these players, and players who have violated other serious rules. These bans are simply not advertised to the public, and for good reason. We care very much about these situations, and are by no means turning a blind eye. It is something that we take seriously and are working on on a daily basis.
" Bex, question, what is your PERSONAL stance on restoring all of the accounts gear with some sort of "untradeable" lock on the restored items? And is there any sort of idea or concept that GGG itself has regarding such a feature? And if you close your eyes, does it feel like your exalt almost hit this time~

" I feel that this would still not be an ideal solution. Particularly in cases where a player gives his valuable item to a friend, and then has his items restored. Even though they cannot trade these restored items, there would still be a duplicate copy in the game that could be traded and this would reduce the value of these items all round. I don't think that there would be any way to restore items to a player unless you were able to retrieve the exact items that were lost, from the hackers account. |
