Why would a dev answer in a thread that lost it's point long ago, had insults flying around and has opened with a video of a caster getting killed by Kole (who was nerfed meanwhile btw). What do you expect them to write? A well written thread gets it's dev answer quite often here, but if you read the first post again I don't think you can say this is one of these threads. Imo the tone is kinda provoking, if I would work at GGG I wouldn't even think about posting here, why would they encourage posters to continue in that tone. p.s.: Only 5k armour, no Enfeeble on Kole, no Endurance Charges, that was too reckless by Kripp. He probably would've lived without the bugged/overtuned damage of Kole right after the patch, but with Enfeeble as well. I am no pro and I am a lazy player. I like melee, I hate trading and I found a Facebreaker... I am trying to workout a fun to play build with it, but hell, I just can't. I won't research builds online... All I want is a game that I can play without having to take a master course/degree on it.
Can't I have fun? Can't I just kill mobs and evolve without having to always die? Man... shit. |

Melee doesn't really suck. It's mostly fine but has moments where it is incredibly risky compared to ranged. They really should have left life alone and just made armor a bit more effective verses huge physical damage. IMO the spike damage that can't be avoided by melees was the only glaring issue.

" You shouldn't really need to do research for a facebreaker build beyond which nodes actually increase FB damage (only phys and melee phys nodes, no one-handed nodes etc.) and which skills you can use (infernal blow is a blessing and a curse). I made my build that way. ...then died to a crit cruel Vaal smash after tanking 3 of them earlier in the fight, but you could probably pick random nodes and get to Merciless/maps with FB if you don't play dumb like me. " I know how you feel but you can forget it First of all you need to do research to find out that you cannot survive end game with just armor and life, even with insane gear. You will need all kind of temporary stuff like Granite flask, Enfeeble, Immortal call, Endurance charges in order to be viable (see title of this thread). " And that's what wrong with melee. With all the defense nerfs the build gets narrower and narrower. The developers do not know how to fix melee. They are scare to death of an unkillable build. So they try to fix defense with complex formula. You can see this in work with Evasion. All evasion needed was the ability to avoid spells. Basically the ability to avoid all type of attacks. Instead we got IR nerf and a fuck up formula that confused the shit out of the player base. |

there would actually be nothing wrong for me if armor wasn't so unforgiving.
The monster damage ramp is still way to steep compared to damage reduction, this is forcing melee to go all defense and leaves very little build variation I think. I hate playing with temporary stuff, for example why is good armor buffed by Determination not enough? Why do I have to cast Enduring Cry or drink a Granite, anxiously monitor the count down? It is obvious to me: Tanks switch from Koams's Heart to Granites and Enfeeble and still stack life on all gear and as much as possible in passives. Maybe buff armor? Buff Determination?
