You know the thing about RNG?
![]()
It's fair.
No seriously. It is.
I am an agent of RNG.
You know, they’re schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I’m not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control itemization really are.
Introduce a little anarchy into the system.
You know what I’ve noticed? Nobody panics when things go “according to plan.” Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, GGG posts that the 6L recipe is 2000 Fusing, nobody panics, because it’s all “part of the plan.”
But when I say that one little old player won't get their 6L...
![]() Seriously folks. Stop the RNG QQ threads already. Too much predictability is a bad thing. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Thing is, a well designed system doesn't need to fall back on RNG for 'balance'. The balance is built in.

It's not a balance system. It's a fun system. Knowing what's going to happen isn't fun.

" If I'm crafting a weapon or Armour, Yes, I'd like to know what's going to happen. If I'm entering into a map or approaching a boss, then Yes, I'd love randomly generated areas and complex and engaging mob behavior. PoE kind of does RNG ass backwards, a science as precise as crafting, they randomize into uselessness, while areas, mobs and bosses are same, stale and stale. They then attempt to make up for lacking mob design with math. Minus player defense, multiply monster offense. Wash rinse repeat. Until the same skeletons and zombies that walk up to you>>pause>>turn away>>shuffle a little>>THEN ATTACK, hit you so hard that if they fart in your general vicinity and you haven't stacked health or ES, you die. Too much RNG is a symptom of lacking mechanics. |

+1 devotee of the almighty RNGods
a slow progression, definitively needs to be balanced more, maybe we should provide them with more options to worship the RNGods, would surely increase the Quality of Life, but could also increase the Fun:Reward ratio. "Risk is Fun. Reward is not." says my coin. Sometimes i wish all those trademark-words like "balance" would be gone from the forums ^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDs-Y5DNH8

RNG for fusings suck, for map drops as well.
why does it need to be like 1 guy needs 30 fusing for 6L and the other 3000. It scares people away and it is no fun. Its a reason to instantly quit and forget about this game when rng fucks with you like it does with some people. Also playing 8x75-77 maps in a row and getting maybe 1x75-77 back and rest 66-73 is not fun its a reason to quit the game with no return because in a game where you cannot determinate the results of your efforts by playing good or bad or intelligent or stupid there is no reason to play at all. And if the range for fusing 6L was 600-800 or 500-1000 it would be all fine - big enaugh difference to make it lucky for some and unlucky for others. Range of 30-5000 is just plain stupid game design (hello GGG). It is a fake system of challenge that people once they have figured it out will just skip. Best example I can tell you I know alot of high lvl chars just alching (0 chisel, 0 chaos) 71 maps and play them because they have figured out they can roll high Q maze on lvl 77 map exalt it and then divine it up and still get a lousy lvl 66 map from it or no map drop at all (and I saw this in fact happening more than once). After all these people are going to quit the game and go back to play D3 hardcore or whatever else. Good job GGG!
" ![]() Getting bad luck on your first 6L might suck, but by your fifth or so things should have evened out. If you're not planning on getting this many, you're doing it wrong. Exalting maps (at least in the case of 71 maps) was probably a dumb idea from the start. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. there is enaugh RNG in the game in item crafting (chaos, exa, divine, alchemy, chance ...) and item find, orb find. These essential things of progress like mapdrops or fusing an item should have limited RNG and reward the player linked to the efforts he does and not punish people for having not as much luck.
Just think of 2 guys playing together from lvl 1 to lvl 80. Then both get a 5L6S chest that they try to 6L and one of them gets it in 50 fusings the other one spends 500 fusings and still has no 6L and probably not even 5L anymore. It happened with a RL friend of me that I started to play with together. After 2 weeks of open beta I had my astral plate 6Linked with ~150 fusings. My friend who played witch had it after 700-800 fusings a few weeks later only. He has been really pissed off selling all his left stuff in ... and started to play other games. I am still here now but slowly getting pissed off more and more by this 100% lotteria RNG game too.
" i'm pretty sure if there is a system that doesn't discriminate, aka "fair", that isn't a rng, ggg would implement it. until then, its has to be a rng, no silly band-aid fix that just pleases those that hate the current system. |

" can you even read? :D this is what I wrote: "Best example I can tell you I know alot of high lvl chars just alching (0 chisel, 0 chaos) 71 maps and play them because they have figured out they can roll high Q maze on lvl 77 map exalt it and then divine it up and still get a lousy lvl 66 map from it or no map drop at all (and I saw this in fact happening more than once)." now try and read slowly and try to understand it. If you think that it is funny that people get punished for all the efforts they do in this game then you play alone soon or alone amongst other noobs who haven't figured it out yet like you 8( Последняя редакция: LSN#3878.
