Is DESYNC - really - that much of a problem? Really?

If I would be a newbie that wants to asses the game and community and lurk on a forums by day or two I would get the impression that desync is really big, major problem that plagues this game, based on time it's mentioned and whined upon. It might even scare me off the game before I started it.


I understand that fast moving builds like flicker strikers or guys with insane movement speed can suffer from desync more. I get it that if you're on wireless connection and have lousy provider, or distant router or gateway half a world away things could get ugly. I know that PoE is not perfectly optimized and that is relatively hardware demanding game.

Saying all that guys with relatively decent rigs with good connections /providers should not suffer from too much of problems. I have 5-6 characters, very different builds and yes I can sense desync on occasion, it's like irritating little thing that is always present somewhere on horizon but in practice I rarely get bothered or even killed by desync.

Sometimes even days pass without some major incident, whit just a hints of desync. Yes it can happen that it causes your death, rarely (but if you're lvl 99 HC guy that "rarely" can be too much)

In standard that is minor nuisance but hardly game breaking problem. In HC, well what can I say. One more reason that I dislike HC, even diablo has issues like this, it disallows killing game and you have to endure 10s of punishment before log out /even if connection breaks. I guess it's part of HC chars lifestyle, they know they can get wiped out every second and that might not be their mistake. Cruel but just like IRL.

It is an issue you can learn to live with. Problem is that the desync is the biggest flaw of this otherwise near-perfect game and it just stands out.
Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.

I quit this game every few months and so should you to continue playing it in the future.

i dont notice much as ranged unless im spamming quicksilver and running around at 130% move speed- which is always.

What people don't notice is the good that is made possible because of the architecture used. We can react to stuff. We can use the geometry of the world. You can't do that in other games. You can't duck behind cover unless there's line of site and hit mechanisms that rely on position. Stuff like this is what makes PoE a lot more fun, but in turn desync is necessary to make it work that way.

They just complain without thinking about it.
You learn to deal with it and if you're good it's not really an issue. Using a /oos macro becomes second nature. They need to fix it but it's not that big an issue.

lol what? You can't react to stuff in D2 or D3? Really? You can't use cover or just just click somewhere else when you know a projectile is incoming? Really? You must absolutely suck at these kinds of games.

While I would not use these words..bluefalcon is right.. PoE did nothing what other games did not before.. you can react in every ARPG.. in basically same way..

for OP.. it depends.. I am still here ..as one of my friend.. (I am not playing though ..but I still care)..yet 4 my friends couldn't play PoE for longer than day or two due to desync.. I say..it's very big issue..

Honesty, PoE is flawed in many ways..in some ways more than other..yet.. Desync is always brought up..everywhere..in every forum talking about PoE..this alone says a lot about importance of fixing desync.

Newbies should get that impression because if they play the game they will encounter desync 100% and yes it is a big problem.

In poe your character stays in game for 5-7 seconds after a connection failure/game freeze. Try disconnecting and reconnecting manually and you'll see it for yourself.

So the tl;dr of this thread reads: Desync isn't much of a problem because i like playing standard.

If dying won't lose your toon, or remove 10% of your XP, i believe no one will give a SHIT about desync
