POE = RMT

GGG failed.

At what exactly? RMT will impact your game and your piece of mind exactly as much as you allow it.

Add this post to long list of "this will kill POE" some guy made way back.

So "this will kill PoE, reason no. 254"

So many "deadly" things and game is alive and kickin' now more then ever.

Hey-ho, some screaming in panic about currency and exchange rates, confusing a computer game with forex platform, others going jelly, mouths slobbered looking at items they'll never own.

That pathetic...

Can't understand why people are so concerned with the economy in games in general, can't you just go play the stockmarket if that's your thing?

Also, since this pretty much only applies to the permanent leagues why is it a problem?

Nothing to see here.

Who gives a fuck about those ridiculous items? Why do you even care about other people's gear in an aRPG lol

There will always be people who are able to spend thousands of hours or, ahem, other resources, to get insane gear. It's like that in every MMO or aRPG. Play the game to have fun with your toons on your own terms and don't pay attention to all the e-peen measuring.

Even in the "dead" and "ruined" standard it is very easy to find decent items at decent prices. Items that can help you reach endgame content without much issues if your build and playing are semi-decent.
You have to be realistic about these things.

If items and materials have a cash value, and the practice of RTMing is frequent (if it is), then RMT affects the in-game value of items and materials, too. Similarly, if RMTing is relatively safe, top end gear will only (or mostly) be available for cash, not for in-game currency.

For competitive players who want to get top ranks on the ladder may not have a choice if their competitors RMT. Trading is a huge time-sink. Challenges, like the "one of these uniques" that we had in this league even encourage RMTing, because they can be bought (unlike some of the other challenges).

It's not so black and white, unless you play entirely self-found or have no high level ambitions.

As long as it's PvE, I agree 100% - playing selffound and no trading, who cares about economy...
But if you're thinking PvP - which will be implemented - that's a whole different story.

I have pretty much finished sets for most of my chars and a good map base. I don't really care about the economy anymore. The only goal I ever had was to have a mirror and week after week they seem to be even more out of reach. Only people who have mirrored gear seem to be rmters so let them enjoy their p2w game, I just cba caring about it.

The economy will go crazy for a week or two. Then it will stabilize again. Was fine after the last dump and will be fine again. No sweat.

I don't treat MMOs and ARPGs as PvP games. If I want PvP, there are many other solid PvP games where the outcome depends purely on skill. I've played SC and DotA for about 10 years in total. Why would you want to play PvP in a game where 90% of the outcome depends on your items and items depend on investment of time (or other resources) :)

Edit: I have zero experience in ARPG PvP but I believe one possible solution is low-level PvP which almost neutralizes the gear aspect.
You have to be realistic about these things.
