I LIKE PASSIVE SKILL RESETS!
" Great comparison! :D For whatever reason, a lot of people seem to be approaching PoE as an MMORPG - I guess that's where the clamouring for typical mainstream MMO features (unlimited respecs, instanced loot, etc) comes from. The funny thing is that there actually are a lot of games like that - even in the same genre, which is why some say things like "this game isn't for you". What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

" You did get my point. We all have time constraints. Or most of us do, at any rate. So it is easy to understand (Not Agree!!!) why someone might want this option. I also agree, I don't want to see Resets. If they happen, they happen, I'll still play, but I'll be sad about it a little. My point is the assumption that EVERYONE is lazy or wants Chinese food in an Italian restaurant (good analogy, but not applicable to my point) I'm saying this: what if some of these people can't read Italian? Or perhaps they've never eaten Italian? Reducing people as lazy, sissies, whatever else has been tossed around, only incites more flaming. How about this - how about we teach people how to order Italian food at said Restaurant? How much fun to educate without inflammatory remarks! (again, not directed at you specifically) |

" You haven't bought shit from anyone. You bought stash tabs, you got stash tabs. You bought pretty headgear effects, you got pretty headgear effects, and so on, and so forth. You have NOT bought a respec-free game. You were given a little room for free, and if the building design canges, you are entitled to protest but are NOT entitled to yell "I paid MONEY for this" because you have NOT paid money for that. " No, you bought nice product wrappings. Car analogy: you got the car for free, you bought the nice dice on the windshield. If the gearbox gets changed or is in discussion for a change, you can't say "hey, because I bought that dice so you CAN'T change the gearbox". That's over-entitlement right there. " Um, maybe. Depends how it's implemented. How about "ONE free respec is granted to any player who played less than 20 hours of game play"? - as a positive, "doesn't change any core at all" implementation? Versus "everyone gets unlimited respec options forever" - which is utter shit from my perspective as well. You see, it's all in the details. Yeling "NO RESPECS!!11" makes one look like a redneck who can't see farther than his nose. Also, yelling "FULL ENDLESS RESPECS!!11" makes one look like a spoiled brat who can't see farther than his nose. I am sure there's a middle path where no party would look like a retard who blindly defends his petty shack. |

Before comenting read all post and facts ...
Fan boys every were.. do you think that if you idiot gaved 1000 $ for this game do you think many did this))... ..... Big companies invest in their games milions so the only think that come to my mind is that this is your first mmo game and you are very new to game industry Also read all post before judgeing peopel person other wsie i have a feeling that you are a Fan kid rageer .... In my case only because of such think like Passive reset made my friends quit game also because game was offering only 3 acts . So My friends recived to ways TO start a new character because in cruel their character was unplayable or to quit game and wait for Best MMO of all times Elder Scrol Online or Archeage. Also grind .... Koreans will be shoked by grind in this game 20 plus Fusing and I finished with only one shoket linked 40 +- chomatic still didnt get color that I wanted . If you think that if game now have 70k is amazing ur wrong this happens at europe 12 oclock when USA Get up and Europe Kids are still playing so this is a server for all Europe Koreans Americans and they got 300k players and 70 k online at top hour this isnt success .... not even close in a month servers will have no players because most are casuals and when they will reach lvl 40 plus they will quit because of this end game pvp will be very proor very little peopel will reach this lvl so you probably will wait hours to get a pvp match. Now tell me where IM wrong ... Dev some where said that they want to keep game a little hard core but this mean game will die soon if you are an idiot who waste 1k for a game and play all day this dont mean that there are many peopele like you most are casuals . Plus Lvling hard core is worst hard core ever hard core can be difrent in this game it is wrong !! If devs will not change their attitude for the game it will be populated only by few idiots like you and even if 100 peopel will support the game will not be enough for keeping game live Servers and other money necessary also Developing of new content they was doing this game 6 years for 3 acts realy ... the only reason to play game is genial passive and if they wont give popel freedom to test it then it is not worth it . THey give you thins universe of passive but you cant test it u have to stick to one build this is boring is in not entertaining this is boring. You cant test different combination to get best one if you want this lol make new champ this is very entertaining........ SO I say you seeya for better times |

after reading OP all i can do is ask one question.
if ur so scared to make ur own choices and deal with anything that comes from it, are u also afraid to play this game? does someone have to hold ur other hand while u play? follow ur hero and once u learn the game and understand it make more chars when not playing with friends or want a change of pace. try new things. u fail so what make another. once u understand the game and start to get gear and skills lvling becomes a joke. as a complete newb to this game myself with 7 chars under my belt for "learning" all i can say is each new char is more fun then the last and i am earning orbs "currency" while lvling and i can clear act 1 pretty much running right through it. ur making this a way bigger deal then it really is Death From Above!!!

You're right. Respecs are not why D3 is bad. Repsecs themselves are not bad (despite what close minded gamers or fanboys will tell you). They're just not what GGG wants for their vision of this game, which I respect.
I still maintain that a limited number of respecs per character wouldnt be a bad thing, but I'm okay if they arent implemented. IGN: Iolar

Maybe a very simple solution would be to maybe do something like EVE:online in regards to once every year, each pilot gets a free attribute respec. So if you respec'd on Jan 2, you wont get another free reset till Jan 2 of the next year.
... or as a yearly token christmas present... I could agree to this as a compromise. |

People who want respecs are the people who want to come in, make one char, get him to 100, complain about the grind and leave. The people that GGG are looking for are the people who will reroll character after character for the experience in crafting a build, people who participate in most races and or ladders and people who at the end of their journey have made more characters than they can remember.
Respecs are just a way for people to get through the content faster, get bored quicker and leave the game sooner; why would GGG ever want that? The longer this game goes on the less demand for respecs, because most of the players will have moved on to easier games or finally realize why having to build a character from Level one is a good thing, and not a bad thing. If you played 50 hours and feel like you "wasted" your time because you had to make a new character than this game isn't for you. I'm not sure what you are expecting once you hit end game; but it isn't going to happen. To me, leveling a character and watching him take shape is the most fun I've had in a game for awhile. End game is just something to do with your character to find the gear to perfect the idea. I'm going to spend far more time leveling characters than participating in end game; and it's the exact same thing that I did with Diablo 2. I did not MF. I did not run Ubers day in and day out. I built a character from scratch, beat baal, found my ideal gear and started over. Последняя редакция: Rollback#5721. Время: 2 февр. 2013 г., 21:21:19

Why not allow respecs in soft core and don't allow them in hard core, this way hard core would stay the ladder for the, well hard core players and soft core would be better suited for the casual players who maybe don't have the time to level up 20-30 characters.
I always think it's bad to give players just one way to play the game, there should be choice, if anything ever killed D3 it was the close minded philosophy that there should be a certain way to play the game and everyone deviating from that part had to be brought back on the "right" path. A good game is all about players choice imo and with their open talent tree GGG has made a great choice in that regard, allowing for a lot of build variety but I know that most people will probably follow a build from the forums instead of experimenting themselves, because they just don't have the time to level 20+ characters to level 60+ to see if their build is actually good. So I really think there should be a ladder that allows you to respec, for those who want it and one that is more strict. |

" If cars were "sold" in such fashion, I'm pretty sure the sellers would get a ruling against them for misleading commercial practice/misleading advertising. If GGG really are selling stash tabs and not game mechanics as you suggest, I might consider suing them for distorting the message as to what they were actually selling me when I bought my supporter pack. That is if they decide to introduce fundamentally different game mechanics that will ultimately make into a whole new game (which I hardly believe they will do). All signals that were sent out from GGG suggested that I was buying the actual car - not the dices in the windshield. |
