Funny, as they already scheduled the targeting rework ( which supposedly will at least partly fix melee ) for either next league of next expansion ....
And if so, they have obviously been working on it for some time already.

SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
Yes I did hear they are fixing name lock "soon", unfortunately this isn't really going to do anything for melee. Fixing name lock is welcome qol change but melee has bigger issues.

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.
Beware if GGG buffs melee then it will be dagger builds on ES again like before. Someone there hated the warrior class of diablo 1 and believed to punish players for that. Which actually would not be a problem if they communicated it like that so that new players dont have to spend hundreds of hours before figuring that out and could either deceide to play another class or just another game.

Imo the main reason is that they added too much OP stuff for ranged. Chain, multiple arrows, and another arrow, and one more arrow, and increased size and more size and more damage, and exponential scaling.

In diablo (whatever version) you actually had to kite enemies and play carefully. PoE ist a race through content.

In this kind of environment one-shots became the only threat for the 10 aps full screen size aoe runspeed meta where melee just cannot compete no matter how much you buff it without making it invincible. But when you mentioned that 2 years ago 90% of the forum attacked you and wanted it that way.


Then someone got the great idea to make armour/melee the slowest moving class and invent unique items all over the place that even reduce that more, putting all the good passives on the ES/EV side of the tree, etc. Just failed on purpose.

You have actually no idea what they have in store about this, and I think that Chris said ( podcast again ) that the previous "mini buffs" were some testing and a first step before the next overhaul.
