Why do you insist on using redit instead of your site

Can someone from GGG please comment on WHY I can't find the relative information on what is going on in their game on their forums and not find out there was some post in redit somewhere that talked about the specific mechanic changes? Take the current discussion about Cospri's and Mjoliner cooldowns being changed Why is this offsite? I would prefer to spend my time playing the game and not hunting down information about what was changed that wasn't listed in the patch notes etc.

check reddit they asnswered your question there...
I'm gonna quote myself here, rather than writing the same thing over and over:
And *I* think GGG posts on the reddit more than on this forum because the quality of the content that survives on the reddit is exponentially better than what passes for "legit discussion" on this forum. 99% of this forum is bitching from people that either can't be bothered to learn the mechanics they are bitching about, or who want to fundamentally change the very nature of the game (like "there's this thing in this MMO I played 5 years ago that I liked, so it should be in PoE, Listen to me GGG"... shit like that), where the threads that survive on reddit tend to be build videos/guides, discussion about mechanics by people who have bothered to learn the mechanics before blindly whining about them, memes (whether good or bad, they are a part of PoE community identity, and thus have their place), etc. I'm sure the usual suspects will be butthurt by my saying this, but it is just the reality. As a dev would you rather interact with people who like your game, and want to learn it better, etc, or people who hate your game, don't even play it, and do nothing but bitch about things they don't understand? Whose input would YOU care more about?

That's pretty good reasoning. In addition to that, the PoE subreddit is still an official forum- it was created by Chris Wilson 5 years ago (you can see that on the sidebar). It is every bit as much an official news source as the forums. For every post the devs make here (usually about new uniques or other stuff), you'll also see one on Reddit because it is the other official forum for the game.

IMO, it's also WAY better suited to the devs making small comments about mechanics or other not-news-worthy things because of the way Reddit is set up. A comment gets upvoted and is easily seen, devs browsing reddit see it and respond on their own time. Meanwhile on the forums, any thread can be bumped to the top repeatedly by anyone, so you get a constant stream of nonsense and people complaining about things they barely understand. The more I use Reddit the more I hate the forum layout here.
Reddit is 100% pure circlejerking with the idiotic downvote system to silence valid but unpopular opinions, so no.

And then the only interaction with GGG wet get on the official forum is random posts getting censored for no apparent reason other than "mean words". Which only contributes to making it all look much more unprofessional.

I'd say community management (more like lack of it) is the second biggest problem GGG faces after the nonexistent balance. Both are also tightly tied together, lack of communication and listening to community leads to the poor balance which leads to public uproar and complaints we can see here every day, which leads to GGG not even wanting to show their faces around.

Reddit is a crazy and dangerous echo chamber. Did you ever try to communicate something unpopular over there?
Perception is reality.

I guarantee you that the devs are not the ones editing peoples posts... There are forums moderators/support folks that do that. Rory and Mark aren't on the forum editing mean posts...

The irony of your second complaint is that you see just as much outcry about the fact that balance seems driven by reddit. On one hand people say GGG doesn't listen to the community. On the other, apparently the PoE Reddit is responsible for all balance changes made. Well, which is it?

If GGG only cares about Reddit, and they are listening to the community there and balancing the game based on those aspects then this forum would be useless in regard of feedback and suggestions topics...

It would actually be more helpful if they modify at least this section of the forum to be more representative of their interaction with the community - heck, even if I hate Reddit, make it more like it, if it would mean that they would unify the bothersome aspect of communication between them and the players - I am pissed every time an answer to a question implies that I had to keep track of Reddit topics also just to stay informed...

They have to man up and choose a goddamn site (only one) where they would keep interacting in a timely manner with their community - if they pick Reddit it would be better to actually lock this section of the forum as no one can confirm that those feedback and suggestions reached GGG in a reasonable amount of time and led to a dialogue here...
PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days...

Yeah, plenty of times. If you word it respectfully and don't try to be confrontational, people usually don't downvote you. It's nowhere near as bad as you think it is. Of course there are people who downvote anything and everything, but there are also people here who clutter up good discussions with useless and off-topic replies.

Of course, if by "unpopular" you mean stupid, then yeah, you're going to get downvotes. That's part of the reason that reddit's prevailing opinion of these forums is that they're full of idiots who can't get through Normal and complain about the game rather than try to improve themselves- Reddit naturally filters these people out through downvotes while these forums treat them as equal to every other post, even when they barely speak English and have no idea what the game is.

I would hardly call the PoE subreddit a "crazy and dangerous echo chamber". It's full of good discussion about builds, dev posts, and all the other stuff while this forum is mostly full of people complaining about anything and everything. Yeah, reddit has some complaining, but it's nothing compared to the crapshow over here.

Official statements and concrete decisions are posted here, officially. Commentary from devs, and things that are maybe in the works but aren't final, that is the stuff posted on reddit. Once there is an official statement to be made, it is posted here.
