Why do you insist on using redit instead of your site

Many of us read reddit in what little spare time we have, and it's not anyone's business to tell us not to take advantage of that platform to communicate something if we see an opportunity to do so while we're there.

See, the thing is....That platform isn't YOURS. It's unprofessional and unreliable to use someone else's platform, ESPECIALLY when you go to the trouble of making and maintaining your own version.

If you want to use Reddit, delete the Forums. If you want to use the Forums, stop posting on Reddit.

Pick ONE, and the players will follow. Picking TWO just splits your player base, and wastes YOUR time keeping up on TWO areas, instead of ONE.

It's common sense, and professionalism. That's all we're asking for. You're not a tiny, indie game....So professionalism is a thing you need now.

Uhh...no. So you want every single game company to stick to one thing. Hey, why don't you take your campaign of sticking to one thing to Blizzard, Riot, EA, etc., etc., etc., who all use both Reddit and their official forums. But wait. They aren't professional either according to you.

Do people just whine about anything these days?

Are you an adult? Serious question. I am curious if there are adults who exist who think like you.

I hope not. [Removed by Support] Keep in mind that the guy was complaining about someone posting on a separate forum on his free time.

"Someone else does it, so it's okay"

And you were skeptical of my age?

Reddit could shut down tomorrow. Will it? Unlikely. Could it? Yes. Why would you rely on Reddit for your business?

Also, why would you spend the money to make a forum, if you are going to use Reddit as your forums?

If they want to risk using Reddit, fine...But that means that the money and time spent on the forums is wasted, and the official forums should be shut down.

What idiot pays for two of something when they only need one? "Oh, I'm gonna buy two pizzas...I'm only gonna eat one, the other one will be wasted...But let's buy two. Because that makes perfect sense."

"Oh, I'm gonna use Reddit...But I think my game needs forums as well. Even though I'm using Reddit as a forum, and thus am making a second forum for no apparent reason."

No, no, I'm complaining about them posting OFFICIAL information on their spare time. If the only GGG posts on Reddit were "Oh hey that builds looks cool" or "Ouch, that's a painful RIP"...I wouldn't care.

Revealing important game information on Reddit....Yeah, not a good idea. You can do that on Reddit, OR on your Forums...But having two places for information is just foolish, especially as GGG is paying for their forums that they aren't really using.

Everything GGG posts on Reddit could go here, and everything GGG posts here could go on Reddit. GGG just needs to pick one.

Man, where to start with correcting all this BS...

All righty: Here's a novel idea- GGG can post on here AND Reddit without hurting the community one iota. It's only people like you that think there's a problem with it, which there isn't. Important news gets posted in both locations, and you're free to go on Reddit if you'd like to see the smaller comments that devs make there (similar to how reddit users often have to come here to see content! GASP!).

GGG uses these forums literally every day- it's how they post their news and how they respond to the community. Just because they don't often respond to the idiots posting in Feedback and Suggestions (that's us lol), doesn't mean they don't respond at all. A lot of the things in this section have already been answered- why should GGG waste time answering these questions or posting on things that will literally never be in the game because they're pipe dreams?

Almost everything important that goes on reddit DOES go here, and almost everything important here DOES go to reddit. There is literally nothing wrong with this. It gets the game more exposure, and it caters to people who might not like one of the platforms (a lot of people here dislike reddit and a lot of people on reddit hate the forums).

Also, this might be the dumbest thing I've read all day: "having two places for information is just foolish"

LOL- the more places you have information the better nowadays. It might blow your mind to know this, but PoE also posts stuff on Facebook (I think, I don't actually have a Facebook) and Twitter! Why aren't you up in arms about that? I think they even send out emails once in a while! God forbid!
@ Maswasnos,

There are two facts in this debacle:

1)ALL of the playerbase knows of the 'official' PoE website/forum here.

2)MOST of the playerbase don't know the poe-reddit forums exist.

The problem arises when exclusive information is revealed on reddit by devs. It's flat out favoritism. Perhaps 4 years ago when PoE was an itty bitty upstart it was okay to 'play favorites', but now the game has grown up. Time for the devs to begin thinking of ALL of their playerbase on equal terms.

It brings me back to an incident where a crafting question was asked on reddit. There was am answer posted by a dev that revealed a secret. The post was quickly removed. The redditers who were there to see the information suddenly had a massive leg up on all of the other crafters in PoE.

GGG talks a lot about not wanting to 'split' their playerbase. Yet, they actively pursue it by catering to an exclusive club.

A) Two places means two parts to the community.
B) The News doesn't have to be reposted in the forums. If you notice, it's a news post...And THEN a separate forum post.
C) Every day my hind end, are you high? Or are you just counting bug report/support replies as significant to the issue somehow?
D) Everything Important...Again, are you high? That is not at all the case. Look at one simple example... https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1773022 That was posted on Reddit...Yet NOT on their Forums. New skill gem functionality is rather important, but...Didn't show up here.
E) Giving the game more exposure is fine. Giving important information on Reddit is not.
F) It IS foolish if POE is PAYING to upkeep their own Forums, and NOT USING THEM. Do you own an expensive computer that you refuse to use? No? What's that, you aren't made of money, so you don't waste it? Shocker, you don't own and upkeep expensive things that you don't use? What do you know.
G) As long as the important information is on the forums, IDGAF where they repost it. Just use the damn forums, or get rid of them.

Did that clear up your foolishness? I doubt it, but...I'm hopeful regardless

Y'all act like Rory is on Reddit giving people insider trading info. Most of the "super secret dev info" that is posted on reddit is just natural response to questions posed there. If you look at the threads that are actually created by GGG folks over there, they are few and far between (mostly just Bex posting stuff that she also posts here). Usually the GGG posts are replies in the middle of discussions already going on, where they have something relevant to add.

IDK about the rest, but I'm acting like a game company that barely gives any explanations or information is giving out information on Reddit that they don't give here.

Do you realize how little information they give us? Especially compared to the information IN the game for players to sort out, or at times, guess at.
