Why do you insist on using redit instead of your site

Of course, if by "unpopular" you mean stupid, then yeah, you're going to get downvotes. That's part of the reason that reddit's prevailing opinion of these forums is that they're full of idiots who can't get through Normal and complain about the game rather than try to improve themselves- Reddit naturally filters these people out through downvotes while these forums treat them as equal to every other post, even when they barely speak English and have no idea what the game is.

They think that about the official forums... and they are correct, sadly.

Official statements and concrete decisions are posted here, officially. Commentary from devs, and things that are maybe in the works but aren't final, that is the stuff posted on reddit. Once there is an official statement to be made, it is posted here.

But that doesn't solve the communication problem, the official statement is mostly placed on another part of the forum and not on the Feedback and Suggestions area...

I stand by my view, if GGG wants to relay via Reddit as it's better because of various reasons, then please do so, but lock the page here as it's counterproductive to keep both and rely only on one... If not, please improve the format of this thread to better conduct to interaction with the community - no, I don't feel that those answers on Reddit are beneficial as long as they are not answering concerns in a timely manner on their own section of the forum, but they can take their time and answer on Reddit instead...
PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days...

Yeah, plenty of times. If you word it respectfully and don't try to be confrontational, people usually don't downvote you.

That's the exact opposite of my experience. People don't use the voting system like it is intended, they use it to like and dislike. Post a well weighted (offense+defense+sustain) character on there and see how that goes. ;)

It's nowhere near as bad as you think it is. Of course there are people who downvote anything and everything, but there are also people here who clutter up good discussions with useless and off-topic replies.

Haven't seen that happen so far, but I haven't been that active on here until now. I saw one guy called emperor_something creating thread over thread because he doesn't understand that PoE is dynamic. (but mah build!)

The problem might be related to the way reddit is consumed. Anything you don't understand instantly while waiting at the bus stop is "stupid" and gets a downvote.
The next guy reading that won't even question the stupidity because the comment is at -1 already.

I grew tired of reddits echo chamber and will focus more on the forums now, will see how that goes. (like it so far ;)

The irony of your second complaint is that you see just as much outcry about the fact that balance seems driven by reddit. On one hand people say GGG doesn't listen to the community. On the other, apparently the PoE Reddit is responsible for all balance changes made. Well, which is it?

I think you mean "streamers posting on reddit"

It started with Kripp, now they listen to streamers only. Problem is Streamers are the ones who introduced clear speed meta with their obsession for AOE. REwatch Kripp videos, all the guy wanted was more and more aoe.

Just so.

I love reddit, but it is absolutely, positively an echo chamber. Not a place to introduce new and potentially controversial ideas about PoE, no matter how thoughtful and well described those ideas are. Since participants in echo chambers are often extremely resentful of having their discussions characterized as such, it is not surprising to see that quality denied so vehemently in this thread.

But at least GGG is consistent in some regards. You could call "posting in the official forums" its own kind of noobtrap, and the game is full of those at the moment. :P

check reddit they asnswered your question there...

Also forum sucks cuz if we had upvotes like Reddit, this answer would totally win.
We post a lot here as well. Last time someone actually bothered to look into it and count posts, it was close, but there were more dev posts happening here on the forums than on reddit, despite many people's insistence to the contrary. Dev posts on reddit are much more noticeable, though, because they tend to get a lot of upvotes. This makes people see a much higher percentage of dev posts made on reddit compared to dev posts made here.

I post more here than on reddit, but people notice and react to my posts on reddit more (except for the ones who stalk my post history - hi guys!). Some of the perceived imbalance is just that - perceived. I've seen posts here complaining about things being posted on reddit instead of the forums, when the reddit post in question was actually someone linking to a post on the forums.

In addition, for small bits of information that aren't worth making a news post for, but are useful to get out there to the comminity at large, it's more beneficial for the community as a whole for that information to be on reddit than posted in a thread here, because more people will find it there. If I answer a question here, the poster and anyone else who finds the thread will see it. If I answer a question on reddit, regardless of actual importance it gets upvoted to the point lots of people will see it.

Many of us read reddit in what little spare time we have, and it's not anyone's business to tell us not to take advantage of that platform to communicate something if we see an opportunity to do so while we're there. If I see a simple question while browsing reddit I can helpfully answer, I'm going to throw off a quick response there rather than opening up the forums and trying to see if anyone here has asked the same thing since last time I read the appropriate subforum.

And not all dev communication on the forums is publicly visible - I answer a lot of PMs as well.
They use Reddit because it lets their community bury criticism without them having to be personally involved. Unfortunately the stance GGG has firmly taken is 'if you do not like an aspect of the game you are, by default, wrong.' and having their most vocal fans enforce this stance is a desirable outcome for them. Threads on here that go for 10+ pages and contain criticism of balance changes, skill gems or the skill tree are an eyesore to them. It is the same reason they allow very vitriolic responses to criticism and even legitimate issues such poor server connections and technical problems that follow patches.

That outlook goes very well with the style and tone of Reddit since anything but glowing praise and 'newest skill with blade in its name and green spell effects' builds that GGG pushes to be meta get hushed away quickly.
