NEED AUCTION HOUSE FFS
" the only truly competitive league is solo-self-found. while the standard, trade-enabled challenge league does have a leaderboard, each position is recorded as an individual achievement, when there is actually no means of discerning whether the people have made those achievements as a result of a solo effort or a group effort. the absence of a free-trade environment makes this even less competitive. someone might have a dozen people feeding equipment and resources to them, to help them reach a higher place on the ladder. this gives them a distinct advantage over someone who does not have a dozen people feeding them resources and equipment. in real life, we would call this "race-fixing". an auction house would actually balance this out and make it a closer to a real competition. it would enable people who don't have a dozen friends feeding them resources to get some resources from auction house to help balance out the differential. but still, the only truly competitive environment is solo-self found. |

...wow.
and you think that an AH would REDUCE the disparity, not further increase it. you JUST mentioned "someone might have a dozen people feeding equipment and resources to them" - and you want this automated. like the botting would somehow be lessened with automation, instead of increasing with the relative ease of it. " Actually, it is just as true the first time as the last time I've said it... The problem here is that the reader (you...) doesn't want to listen, and doesn't have even the faintest idea about how an in-game economy works :-) " No, it is not. It would be mandated by the economy. They'd have no choice in the matter! " Having players breeze through the content is VERY bad for player retention (thus very bad for GGG's income)! Players think that's what they want, but in reality they don't. The average player likes a certain amount of challenge... |

I'm curious to know what the difference between PoE in the west and PoE in China is. They have an AH, I'd like to know how much it's impacted the game's economy, and if GGG (do they still develop the Chinese version?) had to rebalance drops.

" They cover this in their trade manifesto: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2025870 " In essence, they achieve the same effect on slowing down trade by making it hard to find the item you want. In the PC version, they're slowing it down by making it hard to complete the trade. Thus they didn't need to rebalance. |

Cool. Add it.
If the trade market doesn't satisfy the user in finding them what they want, they can still use the primitive trade indexers to get things they're specifically looking for. At the very least, it'll make buying things like maps and uniques a hell of a lot more convenient. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. " hahahahahaha have you seen the xbox? edit: i find it hilarious that you're so sure an AH is a better system that you'd prefer it to our current "primitive" system... based on the chinese realm's clusterfuck, which was considered to be much worse than what we have any time i saw threads about it. haha 'it's an AH, it's clearly better!' " GGG has made claims in the past which they later backed down on. Remember the old allocation system? GGG thought the system was fine, but people raised enough of a stink about ninja looters that they eventually caved. The trade manifesto isn't the ten commandments, we shouldn't be treating it like it is. Trading in this game is shit, and improvements need to be made to be more accessible. " I've seen videos of the Chinese trade market. Yeah, it's a clusterfuck, but it still has great potential for buying basic stuff like maps, uniques, flasks, and currency exchange. It would sure beat copy+pasting the same message to 5-10+ people just to play the game for an extra 5 or so minutes before doing it again. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

" it's funny because i rarely have that problem. i even broke down and bought some specific maps last night (thanks, elder guardians). it was the 2nd time i ever bought maps (literally ever. i usually generate my own 100%). and... it was easy. i think i sent 4 messages to buy 3 (single) maps. i did use my eyeballs/brain, though - and scrolled past the same account that had the first 10-15 listings for each map. and i also waited 20 seconds for a response, instead of spamming. only 1 person failed to respond. tl;dr - people spam, refuse to think, and be all impatient; and then complain about the results of their own actions. i find it hilarious to read that the same people are going to want to scroll through 25 pages of the xbox/china style AH to get a map/unique (i see you didn't look up how it works yet), replicating the same thing that's triggering them, to begin with.
