Rarity !! It's actually good for the game !! Change my mind !!!

I know your favorite streamer said this and that , but I don`t see them bringing a solution , and a solution for rarity is to hard cap it to like 200% or 100% or whatever GGG thinks it`s ok and good for the game , same as resistances I mean .. you can have more than 75(90 with max) resists but it`s not going to do anything under normal circumstances , that way, nobody "feels forced" to use rarity on gear as an affix or whatever , if someone wants to build into rarity that`s his option ... if someone else want`s to add rarity trought tablets/ way-whatever(maps) / tree that`s his choise too ... that way everyone can add rarity and be on equal footing and both the people that want rarity and the people that don`t want rarity are happy ...


As for the people (Streamers and Content Creators) that don`t want rarity they really need to stop being so extremists with titles like "Broken", "Over-kill" , Degenerate and so on ... because they are the ones destroying economy and adding FOMO to the game and it`s just not healthy for the community when reality is that after 100-150% rarity the only multiplier is clear speeed , but hey it`s good for Clicks!! RIGHT???

We don't know that, since I don't think anyone actually knows how much or little rarity actually boosts anything. Without actual numbers and hard proof it's all speculation.

However people have noticed running more rarity is giving more currency and rares and if its noticeable there is something to investigate.

It was bad enough rarity was gutted in POE1 and I would bet as this game was made off the backbone of the 1st, rarity is probably using the coded pre-nerfed state.

This is almost how it currently is in the game. The diminishing returns after 100-150 rarity makes stacking any more almost unnoticable.

I have one char with 100% rarity and one with 260% and I cant tell any difference in loot drops between them

I think there is probably a middle position that can be made to work. If I was running a good build I wouldn't sacrifice much once I got into the 100% to 150% range. I'd be trying to scale loot along other vectors and see how that looks.
TBH, solo rarity effect needs to be buffed by 1000% until drop quality improves.

Team play rarity needs to be nerfed to prevent abuse, like that of empyrean exploiter mafia.
You fail to mention any positive sides with rarity besides "option".

Rarity is bad for the game for several reasons:

- It will ALWAYS be a factor in balance. EVERY drop rate, every boss drop, every item, every mechanic and every type of currency have to be balanced with rarity in mind, no matter if there's diminishing returns or not. Now and in the future. Which brings us to the next point:

- How "required" rarity is, depends on the baseline drops. In PoE 2, it's not uncommon to reach T15 maps without seeing a single divine orb. For a lot of people that is too low. Why is it this low? Well, the fact that rarity is a thing is certainly a factor.

- The psychological effect of not having rarity is the strongest one. Drops will always seem bad/worse when you're not running rarity, making rarity seem just as optional as water is in real life - making the game a little bit more boring without rarity.

- Rarity is a boring stat in a game all about becoming as strong as you can be.

- Rarity is a bad mod because it's WAY easier to get on some archetypes, making balance directly affected / build diversity worse.

Two problems with Rarity in POE2

1. It affects Currency. That shouldn't be the case. If it only affects the RARITY of Geardrops im fine with it.

2. Its too easy to get rarity right now. A MF character should be something you have
to heavily invest to.






its just poorly balanced right now. Rarity is fine in POE1 because they managed to balance it. and in trade mostly its not even sought after. Which means its mostly a balanced stat.

Don't get me wrong I always want ~50% or more "low hanging fruit" rarity in SSF and Ruthless. But also doesn't feel like a compelled value, its just nice to have.

IMO Rarity is fine and as with all things: the most extreme ranting always gets the most attention and this makes any sort of nuanced discourse vanish.
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
Rarity and MF has been the worst part of ARPGs since Diablo 2 by far.

I would agree this is something for ssf or hard-core, but for trade league this is a toxic thing to exist.

It's litterally a tool for the rich become richer.

This at one point wasn't as bad (d2 days) but now people have made playing their life.

As these people sink 100's of hours get the best gear and flood the market it makes trading directly harder for the more casual players.

Time already rewards them for playing more this is just a reward multiplier for streamers/bots.
