I'd argue that rarity if PoE1 was actually never balanced and explain why. The reason every build in PoE1 doesn't run rarity is because it was made to not affect most league mechanics and boss specific drops. This does not mean it was balanced though since depending on what type of content you farm it's an all or nothing stat. Most content that people liked to farm in PoE1 was under the "nothing" context so rarity stacking wasn't as common. However, for the "all" context basically no one even bothered to farm that content without rarity stacking since it couldn't be worth it in trade league otherwise.

Rarity will always interfere with the way loot drops are balanced to some capacity unfortunately. It would obviously be a much smaller issue if it was a SSF exclusive variable that didn't clash with trade leagues.

IMO Rarity is fine and as with all things: the most extreme ranting always gets the most attention and this makes any sort of nuanced discourse vanish.


I'd argue that, while it is stupid, this is a serious problem that magic find stats cause too and ironically enough it's own reason for why they shouldn't exist on gear in trade leagues. If it's a wrench thrown into design and discussion then it's a different, but still problematic, problem.


I'd also like to point out that NO STAT ON GEAR should ever cause nearly as many problems as magic find stats have caused. Just look at how unbalanced defence stats like armour and ES are right now in EA and yet combined they have mostly caused constructive feedback and can mostly be fixed purely through a few number changes. Armour in PoE1 was re-balanced at some point and everyone became content with it. Magic find in PoE1 had it's most well received updates when it was nerfed into the dirt.

well I had a 500 and 600 rarrity culler build ... and I had maps where i was taking 4 exalts ... with like 2-3 breaches... actually had like 4 maps in a row with 2 exalts ... in duo ... but hey Zizaran said rarrity is broken WAW we should all be nice guys and listen to Zizaran and the other hater.. that still does not have a slogan and made a 27 min talking about how bad rarrity is :) but in reality it`s just FOMO... or if you have a really really really good build clearing multimple screens / seccond ... then in a map with 10-20 breaches ... you get 2-3 divines... but that`s just clear speed ... not rarrity :)

What makes you thing rarrity is bad ?? a streamer that played games his whole life and didn`t go to school ?? because if you are a fan of that well....
I think people are overreacting. I have around 100% increased rarity, I didn't notice any increase in currency dropped, the only thing I do find is more uniques, but they are all trash so who cares.

item rarity didn't increase chance to get better currency in POE 1, why should it affect POE 2? item quantity is what you need for that, thats why they removed most of it from POE 1 and you can only get very limited amount in POE 2
Rarity is good for the game because it gives capstone and very endgame players another option. The problem occurs when it becomes the only good option.. I myself feel like we're very much at the latter.

well that`s why if you would bother to actually read the post ... I said LIMIT IT LIKE YOU LIMIT RESISTANCES HARD CAP !! do you need a drawing ?

if you limit it to something like 100-150 ... then people don`t have a problem getting to that number ... either get it from tablets , waystones , gear , atlass tree ...and because it`s limited well EVERYTHING YOU WROTE has ZERO SENSE !! HARD CAP IS HARD CAP ... borring or not ... if i want it i should have it ... if you don`t want it you should not ... and it`s just a simple thik the box like every other immunity check , resistance check in the game ... ther`s no psychological effect , no ballance problem , and I don`t care what palsteron said (that`s where i saw the quote i don`t actually know who said it )
I think it's a fine mechanic. There are anecdotes about it being too good right now, but it can be tuned if that's really the case.

1. It does not matter what it affects ... if it`s hard capped as i said , everyone will have acces to it and trade balances it`self out ...

2. It should be easier so we don`t have people like Zizaran and Palsteron crying all over the place ... an also not to make a character weak ... that`s not the poing of playing ARPG's .

I don`t know if it is poorly balanced ... I had maps with 2-3 breaches ... and picking up 4 exalts total... I had like 4-5 maps in a row where I picked up 2 exalts ...
oh I also had 600 rarrity in these maps as a culler ...and i never picked up more than 1 divine in a map ... never 2 divines in a full week from Christmass untill New Years of duo and player over 14h/day ...

So excuse me if I don`t belive the FOMO happening because couple of content creators said it ... especially when some of those content creators are not even playing trade ... like.. what??
