Why do people keep saying this will kill build diversity? If everybody is doing the same thing, it's already not diverse. So "maybe" people will use one less aura (I say maybe because that remains to be seen due to lower aura costs and changes to the tree). How does using one less aura make things less diverse? You still choose which auras you want to use. Can somebody tell me how going from 3 auras to two auras will lower the number of different builds? If all attack builds use Hatred and Herald of Ash, and you can no longer afford both, how does that hurt diversity? You'd have some using Hatred and some using Herald of Ash instead of all using both. Sounds to me like that would increase diversity, not decrease it.

Some builds dont get the luxury of DPS auras they can just leave off and do a little less DPS. Like Fox's uberable RF arcer. Need close to 100% resits. 93% fire to run RF. 87% lighting and 100% with flasks to deal with split phase reflect since arc you cant not target all.

So that means empowered 23 lighting and 23 fire purities, and then clarity, and vitality. This build is broken. It already chases all the aura nodes in upper half of tree. RM was the only thing that allowed it.

There are many others.

60*.7=42. 50*.84=42. No change.

40*.7=28. 35*.84=29 (after rounding down as the game does for MCM). Net of +1 percent.

Seems like GGG are just trying to slow down the pace of the game with such nerfs. This translates into less fun for people used to the current pace and makes me slowly lose the motivation to play. Same here. WHY must i play a game that, with its nerfs, goes CONSTANTLY against me, more more and more at every patch?
With immense satisfaction, i finally made my first decent toon, a witch that does crappy damage but 90% of times survives. I am very happy and i want to make her better and better. She uses discipline and vitality but... now must i drop one of these auras? WHY? Seriously, just WHY? Why these people must constantly came and breat our builds? Fuck this idea of "balancing"!!!! There are ONLY NERFS!!!!
I don tknow about the beta, but since January 2013 I seen a lot of "balancing" in this game.


I seen trees getting changed and worked on 1 day before patch release... How do you balance a tree made 1 day before release?

This time I am happy the devs took few month and created a beta but I was expecting the Dev to actually test what they are creating, not letting players doing it instead.

From what I seen this game works on changes. complete balance is not the target, they want to sell novelty to keep people playing temp leagues.

Im afraid im gonna have to agree with the OP sadly on this one.... Thats THE biggest issue with D3 right now and always has been from the start.... LITERALLY NONE of the Devs actually play that game at all!

It was kinda a breath of fresh air to not only see GGG guys not only playing this game when i come here but actually see one or 2 pushing the leader boards!

And i would assume its kinda hard to balance a game you dont even play your self at all!
It would be like me trying to go tell Farmville how they need to re balance their game!
Having already blocked it so i cant even see what it looks like!

And im finally starting to see why theres so much animosity on these forums EVERY SINGLE PATCH since i come here! Who the hell wants to spend 3 months at a time working on builds and putting them together and spending sometimes EVERYTHING currency wise i earn just to have them stripped apart every time these patches start rolling out? Its starting to get old to me already and this will only be my 3rd set of heavy changes to the game! I know a couple people who have 10-12 builds high lvl they dont even bother respecing till they find something completely different and a whole new set of gear or simply not at all ever again!
The only reason they dont delete them is because of all the time they have in lvling them!

And then we have items like Mjolner, Voll's Devotion, and shit like that that if the Balance people at GGG WERE actually playing the game wouldn't even exist in the first place because they would have never seen the light of day and made it through the Balance team! THATS why theres Legacy items!
Legacy items to ME screams.."Oh shit we fucked up we REALLY didnt mean to put something like this in the game so im afraid for the best of everyone we need to adjust it and have it only in this ridiculously overpowered state ONLY if you are rich and play standard"! If you dont want players to be overpowered then dont put powerful things in the game!

Which leads me back to my point... if you are actually playing the game on any lvl you could see from 3 miles away these items DRASTIC effects before they even go to live!
But then once they realize they made a mistake instead of removing the mistake or fixing all of them they just make it where that overpowered version wont drop anymore BUT still leave it in the game? WHY? If it was so over powered that it needed adjusting then Either Adjust it and make ALL of them that way or simply remove it from the game Period! People make mistakes and thats fine but seems like from the looks of it this same mistake keeps getting made over and over with each set of new uniques that roll out!
And i cant count how many high end supporters say that when they pay for unique they are very limited on what they can do with it because GGG makes sure its balanced! So if they are so hard on items because of balance then whats the deal with some of these other items? I guess as long as GGG makes the overpowered item its ok.. its just another legacy to add to the stack later on!

When they said they were raiseing the difficulty i THOUGHT they ment on the monsters in game not nerfing our builds to the point they dont do well anymore! Between all the Items going legacy every patch AND the amount of legacy items that exist AND mixed with all the recent changes its looking something isnt coming together like it should or something!

I LOVE this game and the LAST thing i ever want to see is it become another D3!

I am very glad this RM nerf was done, it was a long time in coming since it went against GGG philosophy and even more so happy that the auras themselves have been lowered in cost also to even things out.

GGG should introduce new policy for its workers though: mandatory 1 hour a day play time on POE.

You shouldn't be able to have a job at a video game development company if you do not at the very least play the game and have a good understanding of it and now atleast how to play it well to some extent!

Well Chris and others don t really need to play the game but for the balance team it should be an obligation.

I heard they don t often play public, I think the first step to understand the average POE player is to try public parties.

Chris not playing is something completely different... he is simply the vision.. the guide!
He lays out the ideas he wants in HIS game and the rest of the team make it happen!
Chris has already done his time with his ass in the grass for years in D2 its where the vast majority of the ideas for this game come from! Chris doesnt NEED to be playing the game to balance it.. Hes the Developer!
In fact some of the others for that matter isnt as important that they play extensively such as art but then again it certainly wouldnt hurt them to play the game it may even make their job easier to play the game and see the atmosphere the game has and thus create the art to fit that atmosphere!
But his balance guys damn sure need to be playing the game! Theres no denying that!
The others should try to at least know all they can about the game to make the production more streamline and efficient! If you do Balance... you are required to play the game and have Extensive knowledge of it!
The balance guys SHOULD know more about the game than the players at all times! not just some things.. not just secret things... EVERYTHING!

Chris just needs to keep fresh ideas coming! And i guess crack the whip every once in a while since i take Lead Developer as Bossman! \m/

And to add... One Single Person should NOT be handling ALL of the balance alone!
Thats where a team is necessary! One person cant find everything alone but a team can and do it efficiently! Teamwork is sometimes the ONLY way to overcome adverse situations and solve problems!!
