That feel when the Chaos Recipe becomes a waste of time

OMG 11 pages of this?
Can we settle this with a strawpoll already?

Streamers don't mean anything...No one wants to watch someone else managing that, they don't want to lose viewers.
Maybe get a census of the richest players, do they do it? (have I_NO settle this)?
I do it, I'm not rich but Im experienced...but I'm not a speed freak either.
Hi, Im new to this discussion and I want to learn.

To the min/maxing players here:

Would you still choose not to do chaos recipes, if you
1. Only run like 10 maps per day?
2. Cannot sustain maps without buying them?
3. Cannot clear maps within 5-7 min?
4. do dried lake runs for currency?

Im not trying to argue (because this discussion is already heated enough). I just want to know if your statement "dont do chaos recipes" also applies to my already suboptimal playstyle.
I'm still doing chaos recipe after 3k+ hours of play time. I got a stash tab for amu / rings, one for boots/helmets, one for gloves and belts, one for weapons, one for body armour and two for ilvl 60-74 stuff. Everything is unidentified. 7 Stashtabs total. I play solo and port back once per map ... to get to my HO and do the next map. Every other day i do the chaos recipe which gives me ~30chaos. It's like 3 minutes of work while taking a smoke break from mapping.

If you could only run 10 maps a day you could run 13-14 not messing with chaos recipe and most likly come out ahead on pure. Theres just too much back tracking to pick up items which always seem to fall behind you, town returns, and messing with stash IMO to make to worth it.

If it's fun for you which is fun for me to ID 75+ then do it. But no way you can convince me Choas or regal recipes are worth it after doing it both ways many times

I use the super duper strick neversink filter, modified to not show about 400 uniqies as well and haul ass. I find that best.

I do the recipe (the 2c recipe) and there is no additional town return. I always pick up amulets and rings (I identify some of them depending on the implicit which I vendor when useless), then I only pick up other items when I need them (usually with boss loot), since Amulets and rings are rarer than others anyway. And I find some items with ilvl < 75 during master quests.

I have only one tab for this and I really don't need much time to manage it. One line per item slot, and small weapons in the right side. Very easy and fast.

I play since open beta, mostly solo. There were times when the "board" was filled with groups doing maps, now its gone. I'm by no means a pro, but i'm not poor. I see that most people skip the recipe. I usually just dump everything in a tab, and usually i miss only rings. So as soon as i find 1 or 2, i just do the recipe the next time i go out from a map.
My question is that. If you run so fast, and picking stuff is not efficient , and IDing in map isn't also. What are you doing? only currency? or ID only those items that are highlighted in the itemfilter, hoping to get a jackpot? hoping that by doing enough maps you will eventually find that 30ex item?

Or you keep everything that can be sold in a premiuim stash waiting for it to sell?
Or sit on the trade channel once you have found something that is in high demand?
I only heard that the recipe is bad, but didn't hear any alternative or explanation what to do instead of just mapping more.... it is as if i get the idea that you guys only picking currency...
This is what happens when every aspect of a human being's life is viewed through the lens of "economic effeciency". It's pathological, even extending to a videogame that's played presumably for fun and to relax.

And just picked these up...still no thanks to the chaos recipe.

Thankfully uniques have nothing to do with the chaos recipe!

Not a single Chaos used to buy these items came from the Chaos recipe.

You're extremely ignorant if you think competitive people or people who focus on high efficiency can just "turn it off". Our brains likely process information differently which is why we end up in different careers. You probably don't understand this, but there might be things that your brain processes/understands more effectively than mine...creativity/art/emotions perhaps?

1. You don't hop on POE like "I can run 10 maps and 10 maps only today!"...Time is your constraint, not number of maps. If you do 10 maps in the time I can do 15 who comes out ahead? Or how about 1000 maps in the time I can do 1500?

2. Depends what level you want to sustain. At all levels, you make more currency by simply running more maps. From running Dried Lakes to Double Beyond Triple sextant red maps...same thing. With that said. See Lifting Nerd's videos on 100 map runs. He tells you how much he spent on all of the maps + currency rolling them, how much time it took, net gain at end.

3,4. I run favorable layouts unless I don't have another choice. I think pretty much any solid build can clear faster than your 5-7mins. If you can't, maybe you do not meet a certain gearing threshold yet? I did use unid Chaos recipe in Dried Lakes to get my build map-ready but after that (5L Voll's Prot + Cospri's Malice) picking up loot becomes super tedious. This threshold varies with build. A Flameblast elementalist really only needs a 4L and the prolif ascendancy point.

I use a Quad tab to sell out of, but there are more efficient ways to do it if you have lots of premium stash tabs.

I try to pick up only Meta rares, Potential upgrades, Currency, Rings, Amulets, Belts, Jewels, Divination cards, 6S Armors, 1x3 chroms if not out of the way, Uniques that I have not seen out of curiosity, and Uniques i can sell.

I dump and post things to my Quad tab as I find them for usually no less than 1 chaos. The 30ex items are not where you get your wealth. Those items can take a long time to sell. I've never even found an item worth that much. You make your wealth almost entirely out of pure currency and just finding more of everything. IE if you run 1000 maps w/ chaos recipe, I'm running 1600 without. It's an accumulation of total wealth...not a direct count of Chaos orbs. If we only counted my chaos vs your chaos after a session, you would probably have more.

All of these people that believe that the chaos recipe does not add time to their maps are kidding themselves. They're too short-sighted to see past the direct action of vendoring rares for their 2c. They fail to account for all of the other added movement/processing time that exists due solely to their decision to play this way.

Of course I still waste time in my HO, troll Global, and help noobs out sometimes along with all the other players.

It adds some time yes, but not a lot if your tab is set up correctly. Anyway I enjoy this recipe more than trading (don't want to leave a map just to trade an item for 1c...) so even if it's a little less efficient I'll keep playing this way.

1. No. I literally stop after a certain amount of maps. Either because of "good" maps running out or I simply quit for this day.
2. Usually yellow tier maps. I dont even bother running red tier maps. I get myself killed too often.
3. My current character is an EA Elementalist. Ive only got 7,3k life. Thus I get killed if a pack of devourers pop up beneath me in a no damage T7 map (happend twice in untainted paradises).
Imagine me as if you would be in your "pre map-ready" state all the time.

(I did pay most of my 36 challenges with chaos recipe and selling white leather belts and sorcerer boots.)
