Why would anyone try and reach it?

There is nothing past lvl 100. If you suddently gave every player a popup that said "click YES to become lvl 100" I can gaurantee that the vast majority of players who click YES would not be playing this game a month from now.

This game is not like WoW, there is no endgame beyond what you get from lvl 66-78/79 maps.

 So how long has it taken you to figure this out? It's been obvious to me since CB that once you get a build through Merciless that the only thing left is grind, grind, grind, and then grind some more. Level up in one week, then 2 weeks, then 3 weeks, etc. until... if you're a zombie PoE player mindlessly grinding for umteen 100s and then 1000s of hours you eventually get to level 100 (here's where an exp. bot would be useful). GGG has some kind of weird ID for a level 100 character and...

OMG!!! Another Chris sighting at... wait for it... Reddit. Another click of the counter for a Chris sighting (post) on the Reddit PoE forum. I wonder what the Reddit to PoE Chris sighting ratio is, 10 to 1?, 20 to 1? 50 to 1? How did the PoE forums get less posts from Chris than Reddit. Why of course, it's so simple. We ask the tough questions here in the official PoE forums and the PoE fa... (oops! can't use that term here) worshipers go on Reddit PoE forum to gush about the greatness of PoE.

 Sorry for my mind wondering off seeing a post from Chris over on Reddit PoE (I should have but couldn't stop myself on the off topic comment, my bad). GGG has some kind of weird ID for a level 100 character and not a real ending for us if and when we get a build to level 100. So what kind of nonsense ranking is that? Where's the great prizes that await us at level 100? Do we get 101 fusings and 101 jewellers (something that we all can use)? Do we get 23 Exalts (23 is a magic number so you can never go wrong with it)? Do we get a pardoned exile and a grand cinematic ending showing our character sailing away from Wraeclast as a free person again? Oh, yes, quite right, WTF was I thinking, this is GGG and not Blizzard (my bad yet again). I really must keep my wildly excited expectations in line with the realities of a very small indie game developer. Sorry. (I'm not doing too well today, how many "my bad" am I at, I've lost count. I'll quit now while I'm behind)?

Note: Didn't we all hate the original D3 for endlessly grinding for little reward? (Of right, the AH flippers got rich). Have we all forgotten how bad the AH was? Has out memories of rage quitting D3 over the millionth crap loot drop faded? Has GGG forgotten past arpg failures and are thus doomed to repeat them? Is RNG being used in lieu of real game mechanics for crafting? I say yes to all.

Let's take a retrospective look at someone on the wrong end of the bell curve. If someone is unlucky enough (and given a large enough population, there will be people unlucky enough), it was in a sense, impossible for him to get map drops.

So this person stops running his lvl 78 maps cos no maps drop, so he moves to 77 maps, no maps drop so he moves on to 76 maps and so on, until he hits lvl 66 maps, and then with no map drops he'll run out of those eventually.

So what does he do? He's supposed to farm piety and dominus until he gets 531441 maps to craft a single level 78 map?

You're blaming someone for something out of his control.

And furthermore, your argument is still incredibly stupid.

The thread title is "Gating XP and progress behind RNG" with the RNG part obviously being the problem for many, and you come to this thread and say "RNG is OK, cos all you need to do is run content you don't want to do, in hopes of riding out the RNG waves (or streaks)".

It's like telling people who say lottery is stupid because it's based on random chance that random chance is OK cos if you buy a cheaper ticket in another lottery to win less with a bigger chance so you can buy the lottery ticket for the bigger thing.
You seem to completely ignore the part about RNG being the problem in the first place.

Why should people be forced to play the lottery to get to play the content they want.

This is why your post was the dumbest thing I've read in the forums in a while.


Why should I not have it if it exists?
Why should I play content I don't want to play?
Why should I have to manage my map pool?

RNG isn't an issue with the map system because you can farm areas that require no RNG such as docks or sceptre of god etc. to level up. If you are impatient or refuse to adapt and manage your map pool, that is the price you pay for a guaranteed result. RNG would be an issue if maps were the ONLY areas where you could gain XP after a certain level.

In a way, I envy you, because your ideas and logic are without the burden of intelligence.

You can level to 100 in Normal because rares still give XP for some reason.
