Seriously, if you think RM is mandatory and its bad - just remove it.
Making mandatory gem significantly less achievable by masses does not really make it less mandatory.

1. Do not change non-beta Enlighten or Reduced Mana yet.
2. Create and test a set of viable support gems for auras. You could modify existing gems like Increased Area of Effect or Concentrated Effect to do this. You could also change aura quality bonuses to make Enlighten a viable and variable support for most auras (probably not all of them). You could also tune Empower for aura usage.
3. Implement Enlighten change, and buff Reduced Mana for non-reservation skill support.

The change of enlighten makes no sense to me. Is the xp gain to skill gems a problem?
I always thought it's quiete balanced.. if it would be a problem, stop dropping enlighten
and if existing enlighten are a problem nerf them.

For the reserved mana problem; Is it a problem to have it on gems? If so, Remove it.
As you move it to another gem it doesnt seem to be the problem. So my idea or suggestion
would be to make a new gem class between empower/enlighten etc. and usual gems.

New gem class would have like 6 or 8 levels. and maybe need a little more xp as usual gems
and are a little bit more rare. First two gems of this new class are;

- Reduced Mana, Red, Reduces mana used, xxx balance it
- Reduced reserved Mana, Red, Reduces mana reservation, ....

Further thinking, when you dont want to restrict the possibility of the new mana reduction
to builds and make it available for caster, melee, ranged make the new gem class white.

Actually it kinda does, if most people can't use the gem in temp leagues people will build around not having it available.

Then again, if they would respond to my post about moving some of the reduced mana reserved to the quality of the gem I would feel better about these changes.

By the way, just to clarify our Freudian terminology, I was not trying to say your ego is out of control (edit: I only mentioned reputation because you stream and idk how serious you are about it). I was saying your superego is out of control. Which implies your ego is weak, and should be stronger.

I don't know what or how to think about some of the things Rory is saying. It doesn't paint a very coherent picture.

What is the thinking here? If the intent is that Enlighten not enable additional auras/heralds to the same extent Reduced Mana does, then reassuring people that Enlighten can go below RM, as in the second statement, signals exactly the opposite. RM enables builds because the mana reservation reduction enables people to fit both of significantly powerful Auras like Grace and Hatred, which with their power level often do end up making or breaking builds. Enlighten will have a wealth-gating effect precisely for the same reason if it goes up to the same levels of mana reservation reduction as RM.

If (2), then (3). You really are going to be wealth gating, but if you honestly thought that Enlighten's values are too high based on that, then that just means you underestimated just how significant RM is in the first place.

I would be interested to know how GGG came to conclude Reduced mana was bad for build diversity.

Did they took statistics from end-game standard leagues, temp leagues, the build forum or the 1m races?

Seem to me low life multiple auras is certainly end-game builds that only standard or top 20 ladders in temps can achieve.

SO either it is a nerf to temp ladder, either it is a nerf to standard builds.
I think considering CHris really think too many people get level 100 in the temp it was targeted for the temp ladder.

It was sarcasm btw, no need to defend the devs every time something is posted Goetz lol, do you have a GGG alert button or something XD ?.

Still If it was to nerf end-game ladder builds it will fail for obvious reasons and low-life multiple auras are not really the main-stream of POE builds so the argument for build diversity is a little weird.
