" It isn't just trades that have to be recorded, but every single item generated, whether it has been traded or not. And the records need to get stored permanently, so the record will eventually get extremely large, even if it is only a few bytes of data per item. |

"It isn't paranoia. In actuality I'm not referring to your game accounts but if you really do write down ALL of your passwords to various venues it's best to make a habit of said behaviors. I'm presuming of course you didn't really put all that effort into just a f2p game. Then again if you did ... that's sorta paranoid. XD "This is untrue. If the item never changes hands it does not have to be recorded because RNG data is too unstable to reasonably record. It has nothing to do with the size of the data but the fact that even if one were to state that each item needed to be recorded there's only so many outcomes to any given item therefore the only thing that would be recorded is the number of times the item was generated rather than an ID for each item. If anything if you decided to record that A) it would be a very small and easy to handle system since it is indeed finite, esp. with uniques which are not randomly generated and B) to make the system efficient you wouldn't even record anything lower than rare or anything lower than X lvl for parameters anyway thus undermining the point and purpose of doing so for the most part. If the GGG servers are compromised is their fault.
If you get hacked its not their fault. Deal with it and stop QQing brat. Its like blaming someone else when you killed yourself. "May those who accept their fate be granted happiness. " No. Every item needs to be given an item ID number. No recording needed. Invisibly attached to the item along with its type, name, stats, etc needs to be a serial number. And beyond that, you only really need to give item ID numbers to items that are picked up. Identifying some random white item that was dropped and existed on the ground for 30 minutes until the instance reset is of no use to anybody. Honestly, I'm sure I'm sure GGG already has this implemented. So no additional resources would need to be implemented. " Why the hell would you store this data permanently? There's no reason to have it around longer than a few weeks. But even if you kept it for eternity, it would definitely nto "add up" to anything significant. "Onoes, we need to dedicate 10 GB a year to the storage of our old trad tracking data!" I'll send them a TB HD in the mail and it'll last them a hundred years. I'm done replying to you regarding this issue. At this point, I'm pretty sure you're acting stupid on purpose. " I don't think anyone is blaming GGG for their loss. I think people are upset that GGG won't help mitigate the loss when it's in their power to do so. Your analogy is inept. New Year's Resolutions:

" The servers are definitely compromised, how does someone get hacked without logging in for months? |
![]() |
" No one said hackers are swift. Also, for all you know, the account theft occurred 30 seconds after you logged off for the last time. Your assumption that it happened months after you left is unfounded. And, lastly, if someone had access to GGG's servers, do you really think your one account would be all that was affected? Hacks are not GGG's fault. This is pretty clear. Their prevention could be stepped up a bit (better brute force prevention, authenticators, etc). But your loss is undeniably your fault. It's just that GGG could mitigate it but chooses not to. New Year's Resolutions: - Chicken Nuggets - No More Bullshit Последняя редакция: Firecrest5#0033. Время: 21 мая 2013 г., 15:56:41

" So massive hacks all of sudden are millions of players faults? I received a mail saying someone from shangai entered on my account today, i just logged in to check, and it was all gone. |
