Why I won't be returning to PoE
As someone who has played quite a bit, but not quite as hard core as others I have a few characters in their 60's that I need to get around to killing Piety, but even on those characters they can perform in maps effectively. So is there more fulfillment in increasing the level or in doing merciless difficulty areas and maps? Sure they could reduce the penalty to experience, but honestly if you are steamrolling current end game content then why would making it easier for you to gain a level and make content that you blow though even easier make it any more enjoyable?
I'm not trying to sound like a jerk and currently I do enjoy either doing dock farms, maps, etc.. but the day that I cross the line of "I am doing maps and other end game content because I enjoy it" to "Ugh I got to do how many more maps to gain a level?" Then odds are the enjoyment of that content has diminished to the point where you see doing them as a chore and making it easier to level wont affect that. In essence all I'm saying is that if measures were taken to make xp loss lower and/or lower the amount of xp required to level, then the threads that are currently about too much xp required to level will be replaced with "So I'm quitting the game because I hit level 100 and don't like farming gear." |

In my opnion the current approach to leveling, death penalty and max level is the wrong one.
Why not overthink the whole situation? Personally I would like to see a system where its actually possible to gain >>>LV100<<< in a reasonable time and for every character you reach lv 100 with you might gain a permanent benefit for your account. Really, what is the point of making playing 1 single char infinite to take to lv 100 as there are so many build possibilities? The game should encourage playing different characters instead of making playing your most geared char "more viable" compared to your alts. Also the progression curve from lv 30-65 takes too long imo in this perspective. That was what I espacially liked in Diablo2 that you can start a new character and reach endgame in 1 day but still it requires some refinement and time to optimize your new build. |

i personally think it's pretty awesome that it's so hard to get to max level. diablo 2 had the same feeling. not everyone is going to make it to level cap and that makes it all the more of an accomplishment for those that do.

Dude, the game isnt even released yet! There is going to be monster areas with higher levels that are going to allow you to level easier. The devs have even said that reaching level 100 through maps is not what they intended... If you call yourself a "veteran" and quit the game before its even released, then I would rethink that definition. Veterans dont quit and give up, quit being a pussy..

Couldn't agree more with OP. I'm the kind of guy who is either completely devoted to a game or never really gets into it at all (install -> uninstall), and I do like Path of Exile very much. When I get devoted to a game I tend to play it so much, that I sometimes just burn-out on it, and PoE was a close one. Lucky for me I realized this soon enough and was able to limit myself.
My current characters are level 77 Sporker Templar, 74 Crit Ice-Shot Ranger, 72 Summoner Witch and 70 Infernal Blow Duelist. Nearly all of them got nerfed several times, but I always got a free respec and was able to make them work again with different gear/spec. Problem is, there are some big issues other than the xp penalty I (and others I know of) have with PoE. Most of these are known to the Devs, but sadly, to them, these issues are currently of minor to no importance. I can't help but feel like they greatly underestimate the impact of not openly tending to topics like: Loot filter, multiple daily account unlocking caused by dynamic IPs, the lack of alternatives to progress through trade, trade timezone barrier, and a trade which is dominated/where prices are dictated by a small number of sellers. This is game is still open beta, but yet, I get the feeling that we won't get to try out solutions suggested by the community and give our feedback on these matters before everything is set in stone. To develop a game like PoE in times like these you need a certain mindset, a certain kind of stubbornness IGN Riddericke ▪ UTC+1 ▪ SHOP 498896 Последняя редакция: riddie#7288. " It would be different perhaps if he were providing suggestions or even criticism. But he is just ranting at this point, and there are plenty of free ARPGs to play out there. |

" This is an untrue statement. If desync cannot be fixed, why is it not prevalent in every online game? It’s because desync is caused by a number of things – and can be fixed in a number of ways. Besides going offline (this is a ludicrous “fix” that I’ve never even heard proposed), there are a number of other ways that desync could be fixed. Giving more trust to the client is a possibility, but it could result in hacks – something that should be avoided at all costs (imo, even at the cost of having desync). Chance to Hit and Stun are massive offenders. Their removal could make desync disappear overnight. Yet, here they are, still in game. Really, that’s what it comes down to. Every time you miss a swing or run around on your stun build char (haha right), you can thank those engaging and innovative mechanics for making desync possible.
